Nice finds. Today i got adecent deal, not as good as yours but i got a craftsman underscore logo 7/16x3/8 wrench but it is about 8inchs long and i got got an m10x1.5 tap theat has a drill bit built in paid 5 bucks for it all

The second logo craftsman had a long tail on the C in craftsman. It went under the RAFT in the logo. The 1st logo was just block letters.

the above is correct to the best of my knowledge and from what I have read about the history of the brand.

There is a link to a tool history site in one of the posts about tool manuf. at the top. A very good reference to early logos and manufs.

Just a secondary hobby, always looking for old tools. Just holding a piece of history is cool. The oldertools seem to fit better than most of the new stuff.

Whats fun is digging to the bottom of a box of junk, fishing out a beat up nothing special craftsmen wrench and the seller won't budge from $10.

OTOH fun of the hunt, maybe I roll out early one morning this weekend.

Nice score! Good to see some Vlchek stuff in there. My favorite wrench of all time is an old long pattern offset Vlchek double box, 1/2 x 9/16.

Don't know if I should tell this, but i was working at a friends shop last night, went to visit a friend at another shop in the complex. We were standing there talking and he says he's got a little metal lathe going in the trash.

A small table top chinese Central Machinery 4 x 12! Variable speed, threading, reversing, 3 jaw chuck, tool post, bits.

All for the best price ever, FREE!!

Don't know if I should tell this, but i was working at a friends shop last night, went to visit a friend at another shop in the complex. We were standing there talking and he says he's got a little metal lathe going in the trash.

A small table top chinese Central Machinery 4 x 12! Variable speed, threading, reversing, 3 jaw chuck, tool post, bits.

my buddies used to make fun of me going to the flea market....now they want to borrow my tools

I got up "sort of" early this morning and made the rounds at Orange Coast College and GoldenWest College swapmeets, which are good sized events here in SoCal, but its all sellers who are there every week, no pickup full of stuff to clear the garage. Low lights include;

ROUGH looking IR231H, the "special" one for tires, $80.
Various screw driver bits that look exactly like the set of 100 HF sells for about $7, offered at a buck per bit.
A dozen places selling Husky version of Gearwrenches for $30/set of 7, or $5 to $8 each
I did actually see a box of those cheap screw drivers with the flame on the handle.
Only item I bought was a OEM 32mm 27051 Greatneck 1/2" drive socket for $2, but I think its the wrong size for what I was thinking.

Overall it made me want to go pay retail for new tools. This lasted a good 2 minutes in the Sears store looking at prices.

**** Couple other swapmeets I plan to check out before I give up.

Two weeks ago I went to a big Porsche event in Ventura Calif, but its $5 to park, and $12 at the gate (its a car show at a fairgrounds), but it was still 75% professional sellers. Pomona is another big one out here, about once a month or two months, same $5 I think to park, about $7 to get in since its just a car and car part swapmeet. I haven't tried it yet.

Next weekend the wife wants to visit San Diego zoo, so I may drop her off and check out Santee and Coby swapmeets. Santee is still in a drivein movie lot, and has at least two rows of first come first served spots. Coby has a huge "mercado" type area, but also has a fringe for the clean out the garage types.

Beats walking around the zoo for two hours.

Last Saturday of the month is a hamfest (geek swapment) at TRW, not too far from LAX. I plan to take a slightly out of my way route home and check out the Paramount swapmeet, unless I find out its gone mercado as well.

My buddies take Jab's at me as well..But they purchase their tools off of the truck, Who should be making fun of who??? I buy off of truck as well but I like to hit flea markets and pawn shop's.

If the wife ever wants to come up to the Sacramento area, you should definitely check out the Roseville swapmeet/auction/farmer's market.

Lots of regular sellers with acres of tools, but literally hundreds of yard sale types, too. Almost too big to cover in a day.

Thanks for reminding me. We have a storage place here that has a perpetual yard sale going on. Lots of junk, but I have found some real treasures very cheap.

I haven't gone by there in a few months, must be time for another visit!
