lmao chris grundy? yeah just his whole cheesy attitude is annoying.. show is pretty cool but is somewhat dumb... i saw like the top 10 tools episode and they showed this like impact screwdriver that doesnt exist. i was looking for it everywhere, nothing. went to the diy network site and they had like 4 products... so pointless.

I can't get past the guy that hosts it. Something about him is very annoying.

That thing he does CONSTANTLY with his hands . . .that hip, urban, back-of-the-hand-thrust-at-you-usually-accompanied-with-a-"yo, check it out." . . . annoys the hell out of me.

Plus, he'll pimp just about anything, including the latest **** gadget.

Can't quite put your finger on it? Here's a clue... it begins with "dou" and ends with "che". Would be a decent show if they canned that ****** and got someone half normal to host.

Can't stand it.

Don't understand why he has to yell all the time.

It's like an info-mercial, every tool he sees is the best evar. Not a review of tools, no constructive criticism or comparisons.

I generally enjoy the show - and I do have the DVR set to get new episodes....

Most of the tools are silly, but once in a while there's some cool stuff (Cool Tools I guess!).

But I'm over the yelling, barking, and "YEEEEOOOWWWW" 'ing.

Tim Allen would make a good host though :)

I hate shows like that where the intent is good but they put a dumb ***, know nothing host in and it is a buzz kill for me. Like that Courtney chick on Spike TVs auto shows, nice to look at but as soon as she starts talking I want to punch the TV. :rocketwho

Most of it is overpriced gimmicky **** - but I still catch it from time to time. I mean, how many other tool shows are there to choose from?

The host is weird, but really doesn't bother me too much most of the time. I like that he gets amped up/excited about tools.

I agree. I don't seem to be able to find many of the products on store shelves (not that I'm a serious tool-geek).

I DVR'd the marathon and fast-forwarded through 80% of the episodes (the How It's Made TV series is much better if/when I want to see how they make certain products)

Good way to see / get a taste of things that local stores don't necessarily have on the shelf yet. I don't use Grundy or any of the other DIY network's "expert" opinions to make a buying decision. That's what the internet is for.

DVR it so I can fast forward through the gimmicks. Closed captioning and mute is the best way to watch the show otherwise.

Not to hijack, but...

I will take Courtney Hansen as a car-show host(ess) ANY day...Have met her and she is very down-to-earth, very nice. She also knows her way around cars and motorsports better than most hosts on TV.

When Brutsman pushed out Courtney in order to insert his wife into Overhaulin', man, what a disappointment.

Courtney actually used to help with working on the cars, etc. Adrienne was always appearing to be terrified that she might break a nail just by walking onto the set.

Amy Matthews from DIY's Sweat Equity.............I'd hit that! And she appears to actually work.

I second that many of the tools shown on there are very gimmicky... you know, the kind of things you buy on impulse and then end up realizing you'd prefer to stick to the basics which end up being less of a hassle and won't get you mocked at the job-site. With that said, sometimes there really are some nice tools on the show and its kinda like giving you a heads-up about a product you may not have heard of before. Then if it looks interesting you can look up info, reviews etc on the internet. There is at least one thing however which makes the show almost intolerable...

Chris Grundy is annoying... very...annoying. Amy Matthews on the other hand I could deal with, I mean shes pretty good lookin' and way more mellow. All they'd have to do is can grundy as suggested and put Amy in some 'victoria secret' like outfits and have her show us some new tools. I'm sure many guys would be quite happy about that... the network would never allow that though - it would go against their ultra-liberal agendas. Anyways, yeah I might catch a clip of cool tools on occasion but when I do its usually on you-tube or whatever since I virtually never watch TV anymore.
