Hey guys, i just picked this up at an estate sale the other day for a steal. It seems to be a united delco cabinet. I love the curved edges of it. I can see that someone painted over the original decals on the doors and was thinking about masking them off and using a paint stripper to reveal the decals. Does anyone else have one of these?

Anyways, heres some pics

My dad had a cabinet similar to that. I really liked the curved corners and the round door handles. I have been looking for one for years, but have never come across one. The one he had got damaged and he threw it away.

Remember the guy doing decals here? Or you could just find the logo and have it made anywhere.

Might try a small test spot with Easy-Off oven cleaner. Sign painter told me this trick. If it is spray can paint it is soft.

Much better to preserve the original decals if you can. Brand new looking resto's always look 'wrong' to me. To me, something old should have some patina.

Thanks for the compliments guys, Im gonna try to pick up some easy off cleaner today and ill give it a go. I definitely agree with leaving it original so those AC Delco Decals on ebay that were posted would just throw off the look. What i can see under the paint is the decal thats on that toolbox. Looks almost exact. Anyways ill post up and let you guys know if it works.

I can see Easy off removing any coloring/lettering on the decal. Personally I'd go with auto polish or even a clay bar. Start with the least aggresive thing possible.

I had that same cabinet a few years back, My father in law and his father in law ran a couple of garages back into the 50's and into the 70's and still had a bunch of the stuff left from two of them that they closed. I wound up selling the one just like yours for $100 at a swap meet, and a Sun Engine analyzer for about $500. I still can't get him to let go of the distributor machine though, I actually want that one for myself, no selling that one. I guess I have to wait till grandpa passes then it can come to my house. My father in law says neither of them will ever use it, but Grandpa won't let go.

Heres one of my AC Delco cabinets. Seems I alway find just the top cabinets and never the bottoms! I stripped it down to metal and repainted it. The original lettering was silked screen on those cabinets. I recreated the graphics in Adobe Ilustrator and had the local sign guy output them to vinyl. I might be able to help you out with the graphics. PM if your interested.
