Cooling costs for shop?

Wondering if anyone has kept any data on added electrical cost or KWs used if they added a mini split to their detached shop or garage? Finally got and built my detached shop I've wanted for years. 28x40 with 13ft ceilings. Just getting my lifts up and things put away now but I was considering running a circuit for a mini split. It seems a 18k btu unit will cool it, but I wonder what kind of cost that would be in the summer. I'm in Iowa. I'd keep it higher in the off hours and usually only cool it more if I'm in there all day.

Anybody got anything? I figured maybe someone out there kept track when they did it. Photo attached of the interior of the shop a few weeks ago.

jw90- i guess that size ductless should only draw 7-8 amp's.... breaker size will be 15(2 pole)....not sure of the cost to run in your area...should be some good info on this site about that

Most 18k units manuals call for at least a 20A circuit, 25 is common, some even 30A.

Calculate your costs from a ~2kw consumption when running at full speed.

Thanks that helps. Maybe I can use my nest in the house to view how many hours the house runs a day and then use the 2kw rate to get close. Much appreciated.!
