This appears to be a model that attaches to an air compressor. Any benefit of using this type instead of a Mityvac with cooling system adapters?

this tool is highly recommended for cars with extremely long hose cooling system; i.e. porsche 911. even on front engine cars, it helps to take the guess work out; it's a time saver, IMO.

What do you mean "turned out to be" they were a turd in 1984.

The cooling system was easy to fill because the thermostat was under it's own cap and easily removed to run it while the air purged.

I have the UView brand filler works great.

I must admit though, they were "fun" to drive in the winter

The problem with this model compared to the airlift is that this kit does not come with the universal cone shaped gasket so you can't use it on all vehicles...only the ones that the gaskets it provides. The airlift works for pretty much all cars. This is essential when trying to get out airlocks so you don't have to mess around with bleeder valves.

You put it over the opening in the coolant reservoir and pull a vacuum. Then turn the valve handle with one end in a bucket of coolant to draw it back in. Literally turns an hour long job into a 10 minute job.

Yeah because the cold temps would let it to run longer. Cracked block or blown head gasket or broken head bolt....

Only thing that never broke on a Fiero was the power steering.
