Very nice work. I vote for double top on that work bench top. I am doing mine right now and when I put that second layer on it was like night/day. Nice job on the garage.

What he said. And just screw it on so you change it out if/when needed.

Keep up the great work and make us proud!

All right boys and girls, it's been a while since my last update.

I decided to go with one layer of 3/4 ply on the top of the workbench. But after using it for a few months, I'm put a layer of masonite on top. I countersunk the screws to keep it smooth. This little improvement made a huge difference! I also cut down some lumber to make a "backsplash" to keep small stuff from rolling off the back. I installed two lights over the bench today, but I didn't have a spare outlet to wire them up. I'll cover that this week. They will be wired in with the overhead lights. I still plan to add 6 more overhead lights, doubling what I have. I have the table saw in the garage for the first time in 10 years since I built the garage. The budget isn't there to high lift the doors right now. Maybe later this year. I still need to find a better place to store the gardening tools, and the sink is full of a bunch of grape vines that I'm trying to root to expand my vineyard.

I'm also in the process of painting a drum set for a customer, and I still need to recycle the scrap engines and transmissions.

I plan to build a new stand for my great grandfather's table saw. The one it is on is something I built with scrap on hand when I needed it one night 14 years ago, and I never improved it. The new one will have wheels so I can move it to where I want it. Pardon the steel paint thinner bucket. I just refilled the parts washer, and this will be my new used oil bucket to carry used oil to the dump. Like I said, I have new vines rooting in the sink right now. Also my daughter stores her "police car" and her bike behind the Camaro. She thinks that's where they belong. At least they aren't in the rain...

The brick looking thing on the bench is a chunk of steel that I use to solder stuff and as a smaller anvil. It works great for detail stuff and it saves the bench.

I've set up a buggy for tools and a buggy for parts for project cars. This keeps a lot of stuff that is commonly used near at hand for bigger projects. The black cart is my main work cart that moves to the project at hand, and the older red cart is the parts storage cart with the stuff I'm using at the time for the project I'm on.

Also, my father has an old whole house fan that he is not using that I plan to install above the sink. That will have it over the "Atlantic Ale and Beer" sign. That should dramatically help move hot air out of the shop in the summer. It will be wired to a speed control mounted near the sink and parts washer area.

Lots of things have changed. Mostly my employment. The shop is now a mess again, so I'm on the cusp of another big upgrade project.

However, since I'm an idiot I started a you tube channel. I'm planning several episodes that will be coming up that are strictly shop equipment and shop organization related.
