copper anti-sieze?

Ordered on of these off Amazon, have never used or really known about the copper anti-size. How is it differnt from the silver? What is its application?

copper is meant for high temp applications like exhaust manifolds and that kind of stuff.

I work on school busses in the rust belt in ohio, and we found that salt and the liquid deicer does not affect copper anti seize like it does nickel

The Copper anti-seize is rated 1800° Silver is rated at 1600°, & Nickel is rated at 2400°.
Silver is recommended for threaded fasteners, Copper is recommended for smooth applications like shafts & bearings, Nickel is recommended for stainless steel.

Copper antiseize is also recommended in dissimilar metal contact in adverse conditions.

for me that means sweat hogs, urine and sports drinks, Ti, cromo, Al, all tend to electrolysis weld together if not prepped in anticipation of the adverse fluids.

All anti seize work the same way, some kind of petroleum carrier with some kind of particles that stay after the carrier burns off and provide a barrier between the surfaces. They also inhibit corrosion.

I still ask or read the label before I use the stuff though.

Locktite/Permatex anti seize products don't seem to hold up very well, the Never-Seez brand brand of products work alot better. When you take apart a bolt with NS products they are still in there where a LP product has dried up and is almost a dusty with nothing left.

One of them should not be used on ammonia refrigeration systems can't remember which one though. I'm a firm believer in anti sieze. I worked as an industrial mechanic in a milk plant for 9 yrs, and it saved many a cuss word. Very wet environment, and you could definately tell when anti sieze had been used.

There's also a white food grade that seemed to work good on stainless.

There are 2 White LocTite anti-siezes. 34517 is a high temp 2000° non food grade, 51168 & 51170 are 700° food grade.

Copper can't be used in ammonia systems. When I was in that realm my boss told me many a stories about walking into a place seeing iron lines and walking out.

I use copper seize on all nuts and bolts. Wonderful stuff.
Also smear some on exposed bolt threads, stops them rusting up.

Get it on your clothes and it doesn't come off even in a boil wash.

I believe this is the same stuff that Glock applies at the factory on all their pistols. You'll notice it under the slide on new Glocks.
