Anyone have any recos for a decent copper washer assortment? I'd mostly be looking for banjo bolts, etc

Here's the thing: I found the OEM washers on the rear of my SuperDuty to be 2mm thick for a 10mm banjo bolt. In virtually every assortment I've found on Amazon everything is 1mm thick and that seems damn thin to me.

I'm getting by with some Dorman stuff that I think was 1.5mm thick, and I can live with that, but I feel like most of these cheap assortments are just trying to put out something that looks like a copper washer but may not perform so well in actual high-pressure sealing applications like brakes.

I really wouldn't mind having a semi-quality assortment so I don't get caught with my pants down again, and I'm open to suggestions from other gear heads.

I bought the HF kit for a project where I needed copper washers to seal a copper head to a still pot. they worked great. I have no idea if they would hold up to banjo use, usually anything I get comes with replacement washers...but worth a try I suppose.

Yeah I bought a new Motorcraft caliper and it didn't include anything of course (not uncommon with OEM)

Then it was surprisingly difficult to find anything on a Sunday - my local O'Reilly was OOS (no ****) and that's just 'cause all the major corporate stores only sell carded Dorman. My AutoZone showed OOS online but I got their last carded Dorman 66250.

All my Need A Part Assholes are closed on Sundays, plus I try hard to not give my local franchise owner ANY business

Still I'd really like to just stock an assortment myself and the price is usually not much more than for a couple packaged on a Dorman card.

I did order a 10 pack of 1.5mm thick for 10mm on Amazon, but I'd still love a slightly more comprehensive assortment in case I find myself into a something that doesn't take a 10mm bolt....

Ok, thank you. I went with the SUR&R kit BRC7, but from Zoro of all places on ebay. It was about $38 shipped. Summit wanted $10 to ship it to me putting it at nearly $50

I couldn't find actual thickness specs but they do make a point of saying they're "extra thick" for maximum sealing power, so I'm hoping they took the time to make something better than low-grade Chinese quality here

https://surrauto.com/kits/brc7/

Appreciate the suggestion!

SUR&R is awesome stuff. It’s all I use for brake line, tube nuts, and even that same washer kit. It’s expensive but totally worth it to me.

I buy mine off Amazon for my turbo setups usually 10mm. You have to add "2mm thickness" to the search

Ok I received the SUR&R kit. Anything under 1/2" I.D. is 1.5mm thick

I also received a 50 pack of imports from seller UXcell. They were spec'd at 1.5mm thick and they are, but the OD is only 14mm instead of 16mm (for a 10mm ID)

Photo is all 10mm ID. Left to right: UXcell, SUR&R, factory 2011 SuperDuty 2mm thick

I have a kit from Horrible Fright, been using them for years, no leaks, no issues...

Unlike the ******** idiots at a local NAPA who not only didn't have any & couldn't find any in their computer system... they then informed me that "no one makes copper washers"
That location went out of business inside 6 months.

The common assortment available at any parts place around here is Dynaline. Any parts store can get a Papco or the mentioned SUR&R kit in a couple of hours.

The local McMaster Carr type place has 2 lines of brake, power steering and clutch hose and line fittings. USA made BrakeQuip and Canadian made Adaptall. They only have 1.5 mm thickness in the smaller sizes of copper crush washers

My thinking is that good quality crush washer is fine at 1.5. Unless there is some OEM specific reason to go thicker

I think 1.5mm is fine in 10mm. I just thought it was cool that OEM was even better/thicker.

But I'm using 1.5 now and no leaks. It'll work

I also bought a cheap kit from Amazon but I only needed them for a low pressure application. If washers have raised rings on their face do those help to seal or should I sand them flat?

As long as the copper is dead soft, normally the raised ring will flatten out to help seal, but you can also sand them if you need to.

:wtf: I didnt say they were unavailable, just not very common

Interesting, one review claims they're not actual copper but just coated as such.

The description is worth a laugh:

"Description
Copper gasket is a kind of metal coated gasket, non-magnetic, conductive, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance is very good. Therefore, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and other high temperature and high pressure sealing parts can be used to effectively prevent the gasket, the erosion of the media The copper gasket is usually sealed with a threaded place. The sealing principle is that the two bonding surfaces press the deformation of the copper pad so that the two surfaces of the copper pad are in close contact with the two bonding surfaces without the slightest gap, resulting in a sealing effect The In order to achieve the sealing effect, usually before the use of annealing, the purpose is to make the copper seal soft, in order to achieve better sealing effect, but also to effectively prevent the gasket, the erosion of the media So it is generally used in the joint with the installation of the slot, such as: male and female with the flange, the valve cover, pressure gauges, etc"
