Should I pull the trigger on the matco 12v infinium ratchet, or do my garagejournal brothers have a better sugestion? This is for everyday use and abuse in a professional environment. I've been using a co-workers 10.8v matco one and love it.

Any suggestions?

I use the Matco 1/4 ratchet on a daily basis and love it. Wouldn't trade it for anything!

Love mine, definitely one of my most used tools. The one I've got is out for warranty now, the head quit spinning. I've got an old non variable speed 10.8 ratchet I'm using in the meantime. I've got their cordless 3/8 too, and don't really like it. Too damn heavy. I plan on picking up the new 16v cordless ratchet when they come out though. If it was me, I'd hold off a bit and see if they take the 16v platform down to the 1/4 inch ratchet too.

I think the Infinium stuff looks nice but it costs the same as Snap-On, kits only come with 1 battery (unless they've changed that) and both are way more than an off the shelf Milwaukee or IR kit.

Best one I have used and I have Matco and Snap-on versions. The Matco is really that much better.

I'm surprised how much I reach for the Milwaukee, the more you use...the more you'll use it.

If i wasn't already so invested in the infinium stuff ( I bought it all when it first came out), i'd be looking hard at the milwaukee. If we had a snapon guy id probably be looking to them for the ratchets just for their speed. 175rpm on my cordless matco 3/8 is just sad. FWIW, the only way ive had any luck breaking things loose with these ratchets is to hit the bolt running. Try not to do it for obvious reasons, but in tight spots...

My snappy does the same thing. On any thing thats tight it trips the breaker. The snappy has a little more power and is substantially faster.
