After using the ryobi 3x18 cordless belt sander for a couple years it was time to step up to something better, hopefully. It seems only dewalt amd metabo make a 3x21 and since I'm in deep with dewalt it made sense to get one.
Out of the box it has a very comfortable feel, on the quiet side and the tracking doesn't wander. I will put it to work this week end and see how it performs, the reviews are pretty good. The best part is a 3x21 add I hated buying 3x18 belts, more money and less choices.

I have the Ryobi 18v belt sander and don't use it that much as I am not impressed. I do have a couple of older Porter Cable belt sanders and wonder how your Dewalt stacks up against a Porter Cable or Makita corded belt sander?

Will find out today, doing some deck work. It does feel legit, hoping since they bought pc they can make it decent.

Finally got to use the dewalt belt sander this past weekend. It's way better than the ryobi but not as powerful as a pc 352. It has the power to handle any sanding job, decking no problem and run time seems fine. Like any power hungry tool extra batteries are a must, using the flexvolt yields the best results. I would say I got 20 minutes run time with a 5amp sanding pt dry decking. I love that it uses 3 x 21 belts and they're cheaper than the 3 x 18. I will still keep the ryobi, maybe good to keep under a bench handy for small stuff. The DW is definitely a major upgrade!
