got one of those cordless drills with one OK nicad battery and one that doesn't hold a charge? ( goes flat in 2 days after re charge?)

put the dud battery in the freezer for 24 hrs, then charge for 24 hrs..!
it seems some batteries hold a 'phantom charge' that can't be got rid of.
freezing will get rid of it and...da daaaa! like new battery.

Just did this to a HF 18 volt drill battery. Hasn't worked in three years, but I was in desperate need for a drill to use in the garage the other night. Froze the battery for one hour, then tapped the bottom of it for a minute with a screwdriver handle. Charged it for four hours, and it was like brand new.

The freezing/tapping method was something I read about online and supposedly overcharging the nicad batterys causes large crystals to form inside that keep them from holding/making a charge. The process of freezing and tapping cause them to break apart. Worked for me.
