Cordless drill/ impact driver buy

Hi, I'd like to buy a cordless drill, maybe in a bundle with an impact driver. I'm gonna use it around the house, nothing too heavy. I'd like some suggestions regarding the best fit for my needs. I think I'd like Li Ion powered ones, as opposed to NiCd. As far as power, I'm not sure which one would fit the best. I see ones with 12v battery pack, 18v or 20. Would a 12 v tool set be enough? I saw a craftsman 12v toolset at costco and also a 20v toolset. Would the 12v drill be good enough?

In all reality after going through god knows how many craftsman cordless drills over the years doing things"around the house" I can't really say I would recommend anything less than Ridgid or Dewalt.

This is what I use every day and I absolutely love it. It cost me about $350 from HD and so far its had its fair share of long days and abuse. It may be overkill for a home owner but you couldn't go wrong with any drill/driver from Dewalt.

I had had mostly 12-14.4v Dewalt cordless when I was in the car stereo/telecommunications fields and of course, used them at home. Those are absolutely great tools, maybe overkill but definitely quality that will last.

I have also had a 18v Ryobi one+ set, I can't tell you how many tens-of-thousands of 3/4" holes I have drilled in plastic, drywall screws and other small odd jobs I have done with it but it was well worth the $89 holiday sale price I paid for that set. I wouldn't reccomend it for work, but home use it should be fine.

More recently, I acquired a Milwaukee M18 impact and it blows my mind every time I use it. It it so small and powerful it's crazy. I will be getting the hammer drill/driver here soon and can not wait!

The 12/10.8v are smaller tools, they get into places that 20/18v tools would be a bit large for. I have 18v, but needed something smaller for around the house jobs. So I have both 12 and 18 now.

PS 18,19.2 and 20 are all 18v under load. 12 and 10.8 are both 10.8 under load.

I would get this set form cpo, allot of value and very good tools for a 12v system. If you do heavy stuff then get the 18v option instead.

18v batteries are very expensive compare to 12v. Fatpack are atleast 70 form the big brand on ebay. And 120 dollar at most stores.

I use the "homeowner" white makita drill/impact kit. For work I use the green "work" drill/impact/sawzall kit
