Anyone know what you call the adapter you can attach to your cordless drill so you can but sockets on it instead of drill bits . Im looking into buying a cordless drill any good brands at home depot ?
It's not just about brand when picking a cordless drill.
What is the main use for the tool? If it's mainly drilling holes a drill is the right choice but if you'll be driving a lot of fasteners, you might want to look at a cordless impact driver.
What's the budget? HD goes all the way from Ryobi at less than $100 all the way up to Makita and Milwaukee Lithium Ion at close to $300.
Are you planning on adding to the cordless system in the future? If so the DeWalt 18 volt is by far the most versatile pro level platform with something like 30 different tools available. The Ryobi one+ system also offers a lot of tools for a lower budget.
After you consider those, there are the intangible things to consider like how the tool fits in your hand, weight, etc.
Personally, I have a Bosch 14.4 volt drill and 12 volt cordless impact driver. If I was in the market for new ones, I'd be looking at the new Makita Lithium Ion or Milwaukee.
I'd also put it off as long as possible into the holiday shopping season. I've heard that retailers are real nervous about this Christmas. Might open the way for some really good deals and / or rebates.
