I've been passively looking for them as well but don't see them advertised or displayed that much.

personally I would look for something you could use with other cordless tools you own, or if you don't any buy one that works with something you would like to own. Having multiple types of chargers/batteries *****. I sold all my stuff bought a ryobi 4 piece kit and added on to that with my radio, and impact driver.

The light that comes with the li-ion kit has a swivel head that is great

just set the light down by you, swivel the head to point the light where you want it, and work. No extra chargers, no batteries to buy, ect. I love it.

I have the Craftsman. It works well, but I dropped it from the fender and it broke in half when it hit the floor. Took it back to Sears for a replacement and they wanted to see the reciept because it has a 1 yr warranty. I couldn't produce a reciept and they grudgingly gave me a new one. If I was not given a new one I sure as hell wouldn't have bought another one. It fell off the fender and frickin broke in half.

I personally have the Bayco one you're looking at it works alright but isnt the greatest.. I also have a DeWalt 18v and that dude is tough been dropped off the top of a schoolbus several times around our shop it is common practice for the other mechanics to throw things when they get angry about something well my DeWalt has taken several trips across the shop also and its still ticking love that thing and you cant beat the flexible head on it

I have a Makita cordless twin tube flourescent light that came with a 3/8 impact and drill combo kit. I don't care for LED lights as the light gets washed out at times. With the Makita, I can use one battery type for three different tools. The light is bright and cool to the touch which is great for under dash work.

I was looking for one of those LED cordless rechargeable drop lights, Just wanted to know if anyone owned one, which one, and how it performed.
I was looking at this BAyco one, but it didnt have a very good review

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00113LOYQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Had 2 snap on ones at school, neither worked well at all, dull, completely useless. I use my 19.2 cman flourecent light 10x more and its 10x brighter and is easier to hang/stuff somewhere because of its shape size. IMO Don't waste your money, just get a flourecent cordless for whatever line of cordless tools you own.

http://www.ezred.com/Product_Pages/EZRFL1701.htm thats the one that i use ... i have one actual EZ red for home use, and a blue point one for the shop. Not much bigger than my cell phone, so its easy to keep on you if need be. takes quite a bit of abuse, and the battery lasts forever. Even if you don't like that style of light, i would take a look at this companies other styles.

I don't care for LED lights as the light gets washed out at times.

I've had this problem at work too. I switched to LED just for the durabillity, as the twin tube flourescent lights kept getting broke at the slightest bump. LED light makes reading wire colors a real pain, like when dodge likes to use a brown with a purple tracer right next to a brown with a blue tracer:(.

I shy away from the lights take a "drill/driver" plug in battery due to the bulk. I had pretty good luck with a ADT 30 LED rechargable. It still works after two years but the battery pack died. Now it will only work when the charger is plugged in.

the new Li-Ion drill/driver kits usually have a compact battery, im guessing my flashlight w/ the ryobi 18v compact battery in it is pretty close to the weight of most other non drill/driver powered cordless lights.

the old nicad ones however were horrible.

FWIW, I have the Sams Club cordless http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=362418 and a Bayco retractable corded LED light. I like the cordless but the lighting is not as good as a flourescent. The magnet base works fairly well but the overall length makes it difficult to orient the light to illuminate an area sometimes.

The corded does not put out enough light and it is highly directional. Good if you can hold the light exactly where you need it while wrenching but not so good if you can't hold the light and work. While both are functional I am always on the lookout for a retractable shop light bargain buy that is not LED.

YMMV,
Paul

I have two of these, one I bought from Griots when they hade a 15% off coupon, the other one was given to me by a customer. He pulled into out lot and stuck it out the window of his car telling me we left it under the hood. Well, no we didn't, we don't have one like this, he smailed and said we did now and then drove away. I ordered a replacement charger and have used it ever since. I like them, the battery lasts a long time, they are bright, and are holding up well.

I looks like the Astro Pneumatic 6300 in red. I have sold several of that model and have had none of them come back. Good light in my opinion. Li-ion battery.

^^^ what is it?

Sorry, here is a link to the Asto Pneumatic version, the charger for this one is a base unit, sit on the workbench and drop in the light. http://www.astrotools.com/ It is model 6300.

The photo I included is of the Griot's version, it comes with two charger cords, one for in the car charging, and one to plug in the wall, no base like the Astro version, so it may be handier for some. Here is the full details one it, http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/in+your+garage/garage+lighting+and+power/cordless+led+work+light.do?search=basic&keyword=light&sortby=newArrivals&page=2
