one guy i used to work with had a newer SO 3/8" dr that was really nice,

I just got the IR 3/8 model for Christmas and Im pretty impressed so far. I have only used it a few times but with the lithium ion batteries it works well.

We have a Dewalt on that gets used on aregular bases and dropped on a regular bases and we havent managed to break it yet after almost 3-4 years and the plastic on it seems to be pretty tough...i mean i have held the snap on ones and they seem to be more brittle but i dont know for sure.

What do you want power or compactness?
I recently got a new 3/8 drive dewalt 12v max and I love it. It won't do lug nuts but, for trim and upper engine work, it's outstanding!!

I like the power of the 1/4 gun , i wont more power something that can tear out 5/16 to 7/16 bolts .... Compactness is not what im completly after im thinking a 14.4 volt would prob be best . I use my 1/4 one on motorcycles everyday . and would like to upgrade to 3/8 but dont want 1/2

It appears my tHREE options are down to Ir 14.4 AND Bluepoint 14.4 or a Snap on 14.4 Any direct comparsions from an everyday user obv Blue point is the cheapest , im really leaning towards ir or So . So is more convient as i can make weekly payments or ir i can save and buy in a month or so .

Honestly, I've heard nothing but great things about the 14.4 snap on.

If cost is no issue I would get that one. If cost is an issue i'd get the IR that i posted.

I have a Snap on now but would replace it with the IR if it wore out. My experience has been that the IR guns are nice with good triggers and balance.

I'm an IR nuthugger through and through, but I'll brag on my Dewalt battery impacts too. I've got the 3/8" and 1/2" version, and those things are F'ing beasts. They've been abused for 2-3 yrs now and I've never had a problem and haven't lost one battery yet either (knocks on woods).

I'd say find whichever between the big names (Matco, Snap on, IR, Dewalt) has the best price and go that route. One thing I can guarantee to you is that all the cheap battery impacts are complete JUNK. I tried them all before going big and getting the Dewalts on a special from Home Depot.

I've been looking at this and have almost pulled the trigger on buying one several times.

Does it have enough power for transmission pan bolts, intake bolts or the bolts on the clamp on tie rod adjusting sleeves?

Your input would be greatly appreciated.
