I know the overall topic is beat to death, but I am looking to upgrade my Makita 1/2" cordless impact. I have been offered a very good condition Snap-On ct6850 two batteries charger and case for 200. Is that a decent deal or should I just spend the extra money on a ct7850 or Ir W7150. I am kind of lost because I haven't used either one very much. My boss has a w360 and I find it to be quite similar to my Makita and lacking at best. I dont want to spend 200 just to be desiring more power. Any input please.

As long as the batteries are still good then yes 200 is good IMO

I'd be leery of buying ANY used cordless tool for this very reason. Even one failing battery can quickly turn a good deal into a bad one. I'd approach the purchase as if buying a bare bones tool..and only pay accordingly.

My main concern is whether the model is outdated or is it extremely similar to the newer version? The specs are similar but i am looking for personal experience. I'm not worried about replacing or rebuilding Nicad batteries all that much I was thinking of getting a Li Ion battery anyway

6850 and 7850 are pretty much the same guns and different battery packs

I still sell more 6850's than i do 7850's. My personal impact is still a 6850. As long as the batteries are good, $200 is a "you ****" price.

The CT6850 is still good. I had ones for years before upgrading the battery to lithium. For $200, it's a reasonable price if its in good condition.

The older Ingersoll W360 is a weak. I had one before too (also lithium) and it was barely any more powerful than my Craftsman C3. The W7150 is a giant leap over the W360. It's more powerful than the Snap On.

Not the same. The ct7850 is a complete redesign from the 6850. The 7850's housing is different, the batteries are different, it's lighter, it has an electric anvil brake that stops the anvil the instant you release the trigger, more battery capacity/runtime. It feels to me like it has a power advantage although the specs don't show it. I've had both and to me they're both great impacts but ct7850 for the win.
The good thing about the 6850's ni cad batteries is they can be rebuilt at places like batteries plus if they **** the bed

But me personally I'd pass on it and hunt a deal on a ct7850

**** ***** turned out to be a deal to good to be true. The impact wasn't a 6850 it was older. Well better luck next time. I hate uneducated sellers sometimes. Thanks everyone for your input I'm going to buy a new one probably. Thank you again.

I pulled the trigger on a new CT7850 over my old BTW450 Makita. Big big difference. Snap-On does some things better than anyone else and cordless impact wrenches is one of them. I never thought you would be able to change cutting edges or hydraulic hammer mounting plates with a cordless. These things should come standard on all bobcats and backhoes. Thanks GJ for the advice no buyers remorse on this one had it less then a week and it has almost payed for itself.
