Got some DIY level roofing to do, and thinking about getting a cordless nail gun.
I know next to nothing about nail guns and am looking for suggestions.
I'm not much of a carpenter, so wouldn't be of much use to me outside this project.
Thinking of renting or buying used, if possible.
This is on a steep barn roof, so really want to avoid dragging hose around if at all possible.

Any brands to avoid? What to look for on a used or rental one to be sure it's in decent shape?

How steep is the barn roof? Too steep to walk on?

Do you own a compressor and hose?

What kind of shingles/roofing are you installing?

Ignore the guy suggesting a hammer. He'll be done with the job two summers from now.

In general, avoid used cordless tools.

Roofing is a linear project. Dragging the hose around isn't too much of a pain if you fix it on the roof edge so you aren't dealing with gravity's impact on the hose.

If the roof is too steep to move around on with a hose, it's too steep to walk on, period. If this project is of a scale that requires roofjacks and large amounts of shingles, I'd consider hiring it out.
