I have the Milwaukee M12 inflator. It's very good for topping up tires, and will fill up a good sized tire in 5 minutes or so. It only gets occasional use, so I can't say how it would stand up to daily use. But so far so good, and it's so nice to get rid of the cigarette lighter cord!

So what exactly constitutes "daily use" of a portable cordless tire inflator anyhow? Maybe servicing small outdoor equipment like golf carts or something. :dunno:

I also have the little M12 Milwaukee and it works pretty decent. I use it a lot on all the small wagon tires at the greenhouse biz, plus my motorcycle trailers and CUT (JD tractor) tires at home and occasionally for a low pressure full size SUV tire. I love that it so small and portable with no battery cables to hook up for a power source

Seriously though this unit is not for large trucks and really works hard in the upper range IMO (60-80psi) Heat is the killer from extended running, follow the cool down recommendations and should last a long time.

(Off topic Milwaukee should really make a similar but slightly larger, more powerful unit for based on the M18 battery platform)

I do roadside assistance in the UK working out of a van

Couple of wheel changes per day, maybe plug a tyre if no spare wheel, so mostly topping up spare tyres and a few filled from scratch if I do a temporary repair plug

I have a compressor in the van but running an air hose to a vehicle or taking a wheel to the van is a bit of a pain
on the side of a motorway

Multistorey car parks and other inaccessible locations I think a cordless would be pretty useful

I'm looking for something fairly robust that would last a few years I guess

The cigar lighter powered units I have ruled out, it needs to have its own battery

I have a little 20v dewalt which serves me right but I can see that it will take forever to fill up a car tire from scratch.

Dewalt also makes a 60v pancake compressor which might be the better choice.

I think the big red also makes one.

I have the M12 and the little thing works great for my uses but if I was doing road service I'd seriously consider a gas powered unit.

Makita 18V jobby is what you want.

It's not overly fast but not overly slow. Will hold up to some abuse and if it conks then use the warranty to have a new one. Wouldn't bother with mickey mouse 12V stuff.
