Cordless yard work tools - blower first

I've grown to hate combustion-based yard tools over the years. It's time to give cordless a shot: especially as we just hit "pine needles EVERYWHERE" season around here.
B&D has a 40 volt lithium ion blower, with battery, for around $120. It looks good but I want to make sure that I'm starting off in the right brand - as I add tools, I don't also want to be adding batteries & chargers.
Black & Decker still the name they used to be or am I better off buying into another manufacturer?

I felt the same way. Converted 3 years ago and have worked the heck out of all of them. All B&D 36 V Lithium. Except the pole trimmer and it is B & D 20 Volt.

I would consider almost any brand first, and not just because yes, I do stick my nose up at B&D, but because I've had some B&D yard tools that were garbage. My wife got them NIB at a yard sale and they ended up getting tossed.
I have Worx brand trimmer that was similarly priced that I like quite a bit, though it is severely underpowered for most people's needs. If I bought again I would consider the Dewalt line, the better Worx stuff, or if I had more heavy needs Stihl makes cordless electric yard tools. The Stihl line is pricey but it's likely the best way to go for future expansion as I doubt Dewalt or Worx will ever have as complete a lineup as Stihl will.

I have a Greenworks 80V blower and their 40V blower. The 80V blower is much more powerful, quieter, the battery lasts longer, and recharges in 30 minutes.

Blower is just about the only tool I won't go cordless on.

500 cfm/125 mph is simply wasting time (and that's a "top" model from Greenworks/EGO, the B&D rings in at a pathetic 90 cfm).

I really like the new Echo stuff. They look really powerful.

However, I've got all this expensive Stihl and Honda Pro stuff that is in really good condition.

Has anyone here tried that Milwaukee 18v unit. I've been looking at one only because I have several of those tools/batteries. I almost bought one a couple times online but after seeing it at depot, was glad a didn't. I don't need some monster, just good enough to do some minor blow off. Just wondering if anyone actually has checked one out, I really don't want a whole new collection of chargers and batteries.

Check out the Makita 18x2 36v stuff, they've been getting good reviews.

Need to see some video of battery blowers actually blowing a yard full of leaves......
Then let's try it some wet leaves..........

That's not a leaf blower, its a workshop/job site blower. It won't even budge most leaves.

It's worth mentioning that blowing pine needles off of gravel and the roof + it doesn't rain much here. You may have heard California has a drought going...

I have a ryobi 18v blower, and it does a "good enough" job. I also have a ryobi 40v weedwacker, and am happy with it. So, I'm thinking I'll be happy with a ryobi 40v blower when I find an excuse to buy it.

Make any sense?

I love my craftsman C3 cordless weed trimmer. I just used it today in fact. I got it for $40.

EGO 56V blower here, only $99 if you already have the battery from same line. Has a non-restricting nozzle, adjustable flow + turbo button (eats battery for breakfast).

How big is your yard? I gave up on my 2 stroke weed Wacker a few years ago and bought a Stihl 110v weed wacker. I love the thing, it. Is as powerful as a gas powered weed wacker and my 100' chord reaches everywhere in the yard. Knowing how to roll and unroll an extension chord without having tangles or knots is a plus. For some reason, most people I know don't know how to do this.

One word, EGO! I have the blower, 15" trimmer and hedge trimmer, simply fantastic.

The B&D is not a leaf blower, as another poster said, it is a shop blower. Useless even for dry pine needles on gravel.

I'm going with a corded Toro, I think. I've got enough cord and a small enough lot that I can get away with it and the wife isn't interested in spending several hundred bucks on a better cordless.

Or, hellwithit. I'll buy a rake.
