Posted this to my garage thread, but figured it would be easier to find here for anyone interested.

My space is a 24w x 20d residential two car with 11.6" ceilings. I am busy (and lazy) and getting a bunch of tube lamps just seemed to hard to get around to. These seemed interesting and I took a shot and they made a huge difference for very little effort and a little more money then I would normally spend. I would still likely install another single or dual tube style T8 LED to light up underhoods but drop lights and other things seem to be working.

Feel free to post up any questions or comments. I usually don't do reviews but these worked as good or better than I thought so I figured I'd share. :lol_hitti

Well small “upgrade” complete. Ended up using the led tube lights in my electronics shop in the house and wanted an easy solution for a stop gap in the attached garage.

Enter “corncob” adjustable led floods.

Screws right into a std light base and they light up my whole space very well. Spendy but installed in under 10min (counting wrestling my ladder out)

I like it! I was looking at a similar light at Griot's Garage that's selling for $139.99. Even though the Griot's Garage lights are motion activated the lights you are showing should be great for my purposes. Thanks for the post!

Another good point that you just reminded me of, these just went right in place of a std 60W incandescent in a normal bulb socket. They use all the existing wiring and switch and have the small advantage of being much more energy efficient even though they are MUCH brighter.

Thanks so very much Paul for posting this with the pictures! I have also thought about this type of light and looked at the one from Griot's garage. Great to know and see that it works, and is functional. The one I was looking at also was just a replacement for a normal bulb socket. The one you posted is half the cost of the other one I was looking at.

I still see a ton of dark spots. Alot by the sides of the vehicles where you would want the most light.

Good point and I honestly didn’t notice. When I am working I only have one car in the center. I will try and take some more pics with a car in there like that.

It's certainly more lumen output than you had, but that's pretty much the end of it. You need multiple light sources to cancel out shadows. Your pupils constrict to adjust to higher illuminance. This makes it even harder to see things in the shadows. Fine for a space you don't use very often, but terrible if your spending many hours in there. Be prepared for headaches from your eyes constantly trying to adjust to radically different areas of illuminance.
