cornerbead??

when you guys are putting corner bead on the outside corners of your drywall, what methods have you found to work best to attach the corner bead?? thanks-

Drywall screws. I've used one of those corner bead crimping tools, but it works better for horizontal walls. Drywall screws do the job, just don't sink them too much.

Oh and I love cornbread!!!

I do have an awesome jalapeno cornbread recipe! I asked about the cornerbead because it seems like the screwheads always mess up my finishing, thats probably just my lack of experience though and not the screws fault. Just wondering if there was something else besides screws...

3M drywall corner bead adhesive. It's in a gray spray can, Home Crapo has it with the drywall supplies.

I don't do alot of drywall, but I use screws to hold the corner bead. As said above, it's crucial not to sink it too much. If you're in doubt, take a straight edge and hold it up to the end of the corner bead and the wall. You should be able to see a little daylight above the screw head. If it's too close to the straight edge, it will mess up the mud. If it's driven too deep, you're going to crinckle the corder bead. It's all in the touch....

Now onto the corn bread....Please post the recipe! It sounds way too good!

Dan, if you dont have the crimp type tool just use drywall nails, that how I was taught. We hang the sheets with a couple nails, move to the next sheet while someone screws them off beheind you. Then the cornerbead gets nailed on.

For me its been drywall screws but not too deep so that you twist the bead. Easy as you go. The bead is supposed to go on straight with the mud filing it in so that in makes a good lookiing corner.

The are actually easy to do.

Its apparently been quite some time since I put any cornerbead up as when I went to the store they didnt carry the metal stuff anymore they had the plastic stuff. My first time using it, I kinda like it, doesnt seem to "buckle" when you drive a screw too deep like the metal stuff did.
Now if I could only learn how to finish it worth a darn...

Is it bullnose or a sharp cornerbead? I found most times I have issues I didnt use enough nails.

not bullnose, its the sharp stuff, its coming out all right I just add alittle at a time trying to sneak up on it, I guess I'd rather do that than have tons of sanding...not like there is a huge rush to get it done so I guess thats okay...
