I just bought this Cornwell IRC9000 - 1/2” Premium. So far it worked like it's supposed to and it feels a few ounces lighter than the IR guns in the shop of which I really like. Retail on the truck it runs for $334, I just wonder if it was worth it??

aside from the lies the last 2 poeple have told you that gun is a quality piece that has plenty of power i work next to a guy who has been using his for a long time and still has enough juice to rip off the ole honda crank bolt. for that price i would have got an i.r. but thats just me...... i use a dogshit sunnex 1/2" that will do tires and suspension its no beast but i dont feel bad abusing it. you can always have something bigger and badder, if it was worth it will be your opinion.

Dude Ive been turning wrenches for the past ten years. Quality is relative to the price you paid for it. Good enough to break the bolt now, yes. But for how long? What will you get for it when you either want to upgrade or get ****-canned and are selling it at the pawn shop? Talk to me about my lies in 5 years, boy.

Best of luck to you.

Some of Cornwells impacts are made by IR with Cornwell name on them also,I have a dealer that has been with them 15 years and has very few complaints about there line of air tools and he sells a lot of stuff. He is the longest dealer we have had for years, S-O lasts a year or so, Mac none for ten years Matco either none or maybe a year but Cornwell is always there to support what he sells

I was talking about dealers not lasting more than a year if you need service for a air tool so maybe you should get off your horse as you put it above

I did some research on the gun and it is in fact made by IR, everything is the same, from interior to the specs. The only difference is that the reason its cheaper and lighter than the Official IR guns is that instead of it having a titanium body, it has an aluminum body of which i personally have no problem with. Warranty and all is the same, I just have to see if it stands the test of work and time which are my main concerns, Because what good is an air gun if it doesn't do the job it was intended for.

I too have a craptastic Sunex 1/2". I love their impact sockets but the gun leaves a lot to be desired.

mickael.castillo: Based on some other threads on GJ it looks like that IRC9000 shares internals with the IR2235TiMAXX. So, you possibly spent 330$ on a 280$ impact but I guess you get the added truck service on top so maybe that's an ok deal for you. If I were you I'd just use it and enjoy it and be done with it and not worry about whether you could have bought something else for 30$ less or something or should have gotten a different model. If it works and does what you need just use it. And maybe post some pictures. That's the GJ way!

If you're wrenching professionally you should probably buy a Snap-On
I'd take a rebadged IR 2135Ti over a SnapOn MG-series, any day of the week. They're big heavy pigs.

And I've been wrenching professionally longer than you. Boy.

How you like them apples?! ... or whatever rude thing I'm now supposed to say to be perceived as the baddest SOB on an Internet forum whilst hiding behind a keyboard.

There's no need to be an a$$ here, you're not impressing anyone with a lack of courtesy and civility.

The Cornwell impacts to have IMHO are the CAT2150 and CAT4150 (3/8 and 1/2 guns). I love my 3/8 gun of that series.

Some of the others are IR rebadges. They should be good.

Most of the Cornwell air tools seem to be decent, and of the four truck brands, the more sanely priced. I'm thinking about getting the 3/4 gun when the promo with the sockets comes around next.

Probably $70. Cornwell is rebranded offshore **** these days.

Maybe you should know just a little about this particular subject before being so sure of yourself. That gun is a IR 2235max with a different hammer case. I'm quite sure that that wouldn't be considered **** by anyone that has a clue.

Dont mean to piss on your Wheaties man, but if you're a professional and use an impact you should probably buy Snap On. You won't hear me say that often.
Snap on impacts are not as good as IR. 2 of my coworkers (young kids that don't know any better) have SO guns. I always have to bail those guys out with my aircat gun..Not to mention the SO guns are so loud that writers have a hard time calling customers while they are in use. EXCESSIVELY LOUD!

It's aircat or IR.. So air ratchets are good though.

If you don't spend all your money on overpriced tools you don't have to pawn anything you can just save for a rainy day instead. Some tools you have to spend good coin on and some you don't.

I have an older SO gun at home or maybe it's bluepoint.. Anyway it struggles with lug nuts. While my 3 year heavily used aircat had no problems removing honda crank bolts.

Snap-On impacts are okay but are by no means the end all be all. Terrible balance and loud is true. Also break most often (for an air tool). Lastly the magnesium housing is impossible to keep in good condition. Im pretty OCD and my MG series look like they've been stored in a hole in the ground.

I have an old IR235. It's not very powerful but once you get it in your hand you won't wanna let go. Melts into your hand like butter.

I agree. I returned my Snap-On and bought IR and I am a big Snap-On fan.
