Cornwell 15 drawer chest - $200

I figured.. No way. No way it can't be a complete POS. I email with the guy, he ***** at computers and cant attach a pic to CL - so he text's me one - not bad looking (texted pic)

He also emails telling me:
a) the price is down to 150 now
b) there is another guy coming later

I get home, get the truck, head out. He has all the tools unpacked already (I went through it, and told him I might come back this w/e - nothing awesome jumped right out, or it would be next to me, but if I have some time Saturday, I'll call him back and go over without the woman.

So I look it over. It's OK. Not great. Two casters are hurting, one or two drawers don't work. They have the key but it doesnt turn. I ask him again on $150, and he says its negotiable, so I offer $100 and its mine. Actually, $120, cause the local ATM robbed me of one bill and I accidentally tossed the receipt

I get it home, and in about an hour, all drawers and the lock work, and I have a handful of sockets for my efforts. I likely need to replace 1-2 bent slides as well.

No idea on make/model/year - but I like it and it will easily last 5-6 years without any much more additional work. Plan on replacing all the casters just for safety.

Well, guy was about 40 and said it was his father in law's who was a mechanic all his life. Started out working on CAT stuff, then moved to automotive. I would guess by label late 70's to early 80's.

I think it's a Remline made unit from the early 1980's. That's a pretty good deal that will not only give you a place for your tools but, a restoration project as well. Congratulations,

I've sold several toolboxes this year...some of which I've also bought this year....usually make at least $20-30 on the boxes that I sell....though sometimes I'll take less if I'm trying to make room.

Not really trying to flip for profit, more flip cause I upgraded. I really like that mac tool cab's construction, but its just too small for my plans.

As far as too many boxes, that is not possible. Too small of a garage is possible though

it may be remline but i always thought waterloo. those were sold in the early to mid 90's. a buddy of mine bought one new.

I called Cornwell today to order a new lock/key for mine (below, a CL deal at $500 this past July). The girl told me that (mine) was probably made by Waterloo in the early 90's, but she couldn't locate it specifically in her '91 catalog. She was going to have a rep contact me.

Sold by red white and blue this weekend - got what I asked with no haggle for $75. Considering I got that, and the KRA and the tools in them for $100, I'd say I am ahead of the curve.

Got some superlube, and some casters from HF this weekend - got the casters replaced (but HF didn't have 5" locking swivels, so I am still looking for those) but at least its movable for now - I have wheel chucks in place.

Got ALL the drawers out, and all the slides cleaned. Straightened a few in my vise, and a few with a hammer and some shaping, but 3 so far are too far gone.

I beat the HELL out of the bottom of the box to get it straight enough so that all casters were mounting straight, and got about 5 drawers back in so far. They slide about 10 times better than when I first got it. Not a single one requires a grunt or more than one hand now!
