Cornwell 58" toolbox ?s

I have been in the market for a new box for awhile. It always takes me longer to research than it should so I have missed a couple of deals in the past. I don't know much about Cornwell toolboxes though I have searched here. I would like to get impressions from everyone to see how poor or good of a deal I may be getting here.

I talked with a local dealer that has a CTB 58B 58" toolbox with SS top. I have asked if it is American made, which he confirmed it is. I don't know the color though don't care too much.
He claims it was purchased by a guy who immediately passed away and they accepted it back. Absolutely like new condition (we shall see). It lists at $6k. He will deliver it to the house for $4k. Am I even in the ballpark? How much lower should I try to go? Are these boxes any good? (I read somewhere that the old ones were good, but they changed manufacturers in ~2005 and they went downhill.)
Anything else I should think of?

I continue to watch craigslist and have called on a few. Between toolboxes and tractors, I have called at least 12 scam artists. It seems like there are no real sales only scams. If anybody has any secrets, let me know.

It's a good box but you buy more box for 4K. Ebay is full of them so narrow the search down to the distance you are willing to drive. It's a nice box but it's not 4K nice. You can a Bigger and better Snap-On KRL for that kind of money.

Cornwell tool boxes are made by Waterloo in Mexico. Snap On boxes are made in Canada and USA. Matco tool boxes are made in USA.

They are made in Mexico for sure. I dont think they try to hide that fact.

We don't hide the fact they are made in Mexico. Waterloo leads the build. Our engineers designed them and there is a few new coming to the line this year. The new 58 was redesigned recently and it sports the full size second drawer, flush lock and the stainless comes free. They use some steel when they build these (heavy) I sell plenty of these and have taken plenty of the others truck companies on trade. They hold there own and I am delivering two 67s (big brother) on Friday. I will tell you that dealer is not making much on that deal. He is def doing the best he can on the price for you. Used is always an option as well. Tools make you the money ...not the box

Thanks everyone. I kind of thought it was high for what is really a used box... And if it ain't American I might as well buy from strictly toolboxes.
Craigslist is dead around here for real deals, plenty of scams though. I'll continue to check it and ebay, but back to the research...

I wouldn't check out montezuma...not super happy w/ the quality/finish on mine, which i bought brand new. I'd go w/ a general over montezuma...better yet...do what you are doing...go for quality name brand and used...win/win! Thats what I WISH i would've done!

Just out of curiosity...what model Montezuma did you buy? I've been debating for awhile between a used name brand (pref. Matco or Snap-on) double-bay vs a brand new Montezuma 72". Most of the reviews I've read are favorable to Montezuma, but it's hard for me to pull the trigger without seeing one in person.

i disagree with this statement, somewhat. yes, you can make money without a tool box and just tools = laying out all over the floor. but the tool box keeps things organized, so that you can work faster and make more money.

so, in its own way, a tool box does make you money.

I wouldn't even look at a Cornwell box at this point in the game. No support for problems that come up and not made in the USA. Might as well just find one of those C-man "professional" boxes that didn't sell at all instead. Same box.

I have a Cornwell tool cart,seems pretty decent build wise but if something breaks forget it Been 2 months waiting for a lock for the Top and no body is realy willing to help.
