Cornwell 76” vs matco 4s 3bay with hutch

Hey y’all,
Just wanted to get some advice as per preference between these two boxes. The matco cost 250 more than the cornwell. But he cornwell does have the 2 longer drawers while the matco doesn’t.

I am unfamiliar with the build of Cornwell boxes but I feel the drawer layout will suit you much better than the Matco unit. The Matco 4s is built well but I never liked that the drawers were 50/50 under the long drawer vs 70/30 like on the Cornwell. With the Matco you will have to keep all of your longer items in the top drawer with the Cornell you will not. I don't think either would be a bad choice if priced right.

Having said that I am having to literally go out of state to chase down a cornwell dealer to buy something from them so warranty and parts down the road will be a lot easier with the Matco. To be completely honest though, I hate Matco's 4s boxes and their hutchs seem lower than most. I know I'd be hitting my head on it all the time.

Matco if you think you'll use the hutch, otherwise get the cornwell-unless you hate green. The long drawers are nice for keeping all your sockets and wrenches in one place.

I think the Cornwell also had a higher drawer load rating for what that's worth.

It's a 2.5 hour drive to Bakersfield for me. If he's willing to ship I've been looking for a 10mm extra short Cornwell wrench for a couple years now. I have a deal in the works right now with another dealer across the country but it's not a done deal in my hand yet.

Depends on whether a hutch is a plus or a minus to how you work. A hutch is nothing but a hindrance and a head banger for me.

I like matco boxes but prefer older ones .
Hutch height not the best as indeed too low but it down to what works for you .
Not over keen on that cornwell either, prices potentially decent though .

I like the double long drawer set-up on the Cornwell. The green color not so much.

I would go 2 matco 7525 over the 3 bay boxes and older 2 bay boxes can be found cheap as 72" tends be premium priced even used market.
2x 56" = more storage, better drawer sizes and easier move 2 56" boxes over a 72" .
56" also more rigid, add an end drawer cabinet and you turn it into a 72" 3 bay lol .
I been using 2 matco 7525 and a hangonon end drawer cabinet for years and love it, no reason change and likely add another end cabinet or 3rd 7525 if expansion needed .

I had that exact Matco box. Never had any issues with it. I had it for 4 years before upgrading to my current, larger box.

As far as the Cornwell box, I have no experience with them. I believe they are made by another company, not sue who though.

I have 3 matco boxes MB7535 MB8535 and MB8525 they are all at least 15 years old and are great. The 85's have deeper draws I dont know anything about the cornwell. I would compare the specs before deciding.

MB8535 has deeper drawers as 35 denotes it 30" deep box
All the old Matco MB boxes are good used buys, I got 2 MB7525 and matching end drawer hangon .
Old is gold, I don't like the 4s onward stuff much .
Old MB85 and MB75 can be found cheap, I spent under 2K on all mine including new liners, 2 sets hinges and new lock barrels plus externally refinishing paint in epoxy in friends spray booth . 25" (25) models sell cheaper and see more over the 30" (35) boxes.
Really enjoy mine and in daily use and will be until I retire, I got no intention of changing them .

The 25 and 35 is bank size the also had a quad which was a 45. I had a 8525 which was a double bank that was 28 deep the 75 was 25 and the 95 was 30 deep

That's a recent acquisition. For years they were made by Waterloo which Stanley bought last year.
