I'm considering purchasing a Cornwell branded plier set, CPL109. Just to try out the brand.

Before I go thru the effort of tracking down a dealer, I would like to know if one of you guys know where they're made. $87.95 seems cheap for a USA made set. Thank you.

I bought the cpl104 and they're made in....you guessed it...china. They're not bad for the price I paid for them but there are definitely better pliers out there.

If you're gonna give Cornwell a try, then get one of their hardline tools like a wrench or ratchet. I've heard their QC has gone down recently, but I bought a full set of XL wrenches in SAE and metric, as well as 3 ratchets (1/4, 3/8, 1/2 all flex, 36 tooth) and they are KILLER! This was just over a year ago.

The only truck brand that actually makes their own pliers is Snap-On. Cornwell and MAC seem to be sourced from the same place [China/Taiwan].

That said i actually think Cornwell/MAC sell some decent pliers sets if you get them during one of their sales. Hard to go wrong when you get a 10pc set for ~$100 and a lifetime warranty. Certainly their specialty pliers are okay [long snips/hose pliers].

Cornwell also has Cornwell branded Channellock made pliers so they have two totally different plier lines

Save your money and buy a set of Channellock pliers. US made, great quality, and affordable. Channellock provided pliers to both Cornwell and Mac before they started hawking chinese made pliers.
On a side note, if you get a copy of Cornwell's price list, the tools they actually make are in bold print which is a small portion of the whole list.
Everything else is rebadged. 30 tooth ratchets, sockets, and wrenches are about all they make.

I would agree if you want a US made pliers set, go with the channel lock, they are very well made, and the kline stuff is not better and have come down a bit in quality. And the channel lock brand will save you some money.

If you want better pliers, you will need to look at knipex, wiha and nws from Germany. The truck brands are not as good.

Those are Cornwell branded Channellock pliers. COO is USA. Unless you need the orange grips, you'd save money buying Channellock.

You can buy Cornwell Branded Channel Lock pliers or you can buy the cheap Cornwell branded China Pliers. For what you pay for China made Cornwell pliers you can buy USA made Channel Lock brand pliers. I have a couple of MAC Tools branded Channel Lock Pliers.
