So I bought this double flare tool from the Cornwell truck maybe 5 or 6 months ago and I just want to leave my thoughts on it. First off the price, it came out to be about $65 roughly give our take a few bucks. A reasonable price compared to other vendors, not the cheapest but also not the most expensive. It works well in most cases but it's not perfect, there are some flaws to it. My main issue is that it doesn't make a perfect bubble flare. Not to say that it doesn't work, just my personal preference, the bubble end is always kind of off to one side. But none the less, it serves it's purpose. It comes with 3 adapters but the others you'll have to buy on your own. It also doesn't come with a reamer, that is sold separately for about 35. There are better products from other but of couse with a higher price but if you want one without braking the bank and not so flimsy this is good for now

I have not had any luck making consistent even double flares with that style of tool, regardless of brand. After fooling with multiple brands and styles of flare tools, I ended up buying the Mastercool flaring set and it works great, perfect flares every time.

That's been my experience as well - I've used my similar flaring tool to make several replacement brake and transmission cooler lines over the years, and I don't think I have made a 'perfect' double-flare yet.

With that said, as long as there is a smooth ring in the sealing area, it shouldn't matter that much. The mating seat is made of a softer material that gives in order to achieve the seal. You can feel the material giving whenever you install a new brake wheel cylinder and are tightening the nut on the steel line for the first time - it feels like the threads are giving, but it is actually the softer seat material giving way to achieve a leak-free seal.

I gave up on that style of flaring tool. Went out and bought the Mastercool hydraulic set. This thing is pricy but worth the cash just to eliminate the frustration and saves material.

x 3 on the Mastercool. Perfect flares every time. You can search this site for it. There is a vice mount made by Eastwood. The Mastercool you can use "on the car" but a third hand would be nicer to have. The tool trucks also sell the Mastercool under their own labels, for example Bluepoint.
