Bought a used 65"? 12 drawer Cornwell box. A previous owner spilt soda on the drawer and the latch won't fall back down to hold the drawer shut. I took it apart to clean it but since only gravity pulls it down it helped a little but not much any amount of gunk interferes. Or it's slightly bent and I cant tell? My research show parts probably aren't available so either adding a spring to push it down but maybe I'm being too fancy?

Shot in the dark just because nobody else has responded. I've never owned a Cornwell box and am not familiar with how their grip-latch system works. How big are the parts you're trying to clean?

Ultrasonic cleaning is my go-to method for anything that's covered in a sticky substance and/or accumulated grime. Works wonders on friction drawer slides that are caked in old dirty grease, and I throw my wrenches in one several times a year too.

If you have/can get access to one, and the offending parts are small enough to fit in the tank (either fully or one side at a time) that would be my recommendation.
