I AM VERY PISSED!!!
My Cornwell 1/2 impact gun has been on the fritz lately. I just paid it off a few months ago and now it would tighten down the first few lug nuts but when it get to that one last one, the minute it hits some resistance it doesn't move and you just hear the air escape from the outlet. WTF, does anyone know what that could be or how it could have happened??

Don't forget to grease it too, a lot of people tend to over look that. There should be a grease port on the front near the anvil on most impacts.

Is the direction switch fully seated? which model? how old? if less than 2 years old, you should be able to get a loaner from your dealer while yours goes in for hopefully warranty repair. :dunno:

I quit selling IR made guns, too many problems. Definitely see about a loaner (I kept 3 for loaners) if it goes out for repair, average wait time 30-60 days.

Has IR always had issues or is this a couple year issue? I only ask cause I thought IR was pretty much the bench mark. I have a 1/2 titanium and I like it and was thinking about getting it's 3/8 brother but there's been a couple posts about issues with IR lately and that has me curious.

First off, which model? Cornwell has sold lotsa IR made guns. IR-C8000 is most likely, although now the sell the 2235 as an IR-C9000 ,so it could be a broken rotor output shaft, a broken anvil ( yes they do break where the hammers hit them,I've seen it). You need to take it apart and find out. If it's an IR-C8000 it's simple.

had that problem with a bunch of guns.. id bet it needs a good cleaning.. gunk builds up inside with all that oil and water from the compresser . just take it apart and clean it in the wash tank.

Stupid question, how does one get grease in that fitting and what grease should I use?

IR makes a lube kit, 115-LBK1 that gives you the little grease gun for those fittings, the correct grease(for the plastic handle impacts) and some oil. Astro also makes a little grease gun, part#101 or lincoln has the tip #5803 you can put on a bigger grease gun.

You can always just take the hammer case off and grease it that way, that way you can clean out the old grease too.
