Do any of you guys have any experience with Cornwell impact sockets? I was actually on a Cornwell truck yesterday! They really do exist! Well in their June flier the have a decent price on 3/8" drive deep SAE impact socket set, so I am contemplating them but figured I'd check with GJ.

The Cornwell impact sockets are fine. Generally priced under the other three trucks.

I've had no issues with mine, other than their twelve point impacts sockets are not Flank Drive, or at least they were not when I bought a set about four years ago.

Mine have been great, no complaints. I have bought impact wobblies, chrome sockets, and larger sizes (the ones that don't come in the HF sets, such as 15/16 in 3/8 drive) and such off the Cornwell truck.

However (here it comes) my main 3/8 SAE impact set is from Harbor Freight. I have been pounding on them for quite a while now, with no ill effects. $8 @ HF IIRC. If you were buying a more speciality item (wobblies, etc.), I would definitely point you towards Cornwell, their hardline is quite good. For standard impacts it seems to me like a waste of money UNLESS YOU SPECIFICALLY WANT USA MADE, GOOD WARRANTY, TOOLS TO BE PROUD OF, PASS DOWN TO YOUR KIDS, etc. If you're just going to pound on them and maybe loose them like me, HF is good for standard impacts.

Just my $.02, NOT trying to start any fights.

Why were you considering them??

I was consider the Cornwell set because it is made in the US and the dealer was a pretty cool guy and the price was better than the other truck brands, plus figured I give the guy some business to help support keeping a Cornwell dealer in the area since I was able to finally found one.

My dealer is pretty good too, I've given him lots of money! :bounce:

Cornwell is the underdog of truck brands, and well worth supporting in my book!

I have a Snap on set, a cornwell set a proto set and a craftsman set, at home i have a wright set. no problems with either, all except the wright set i use at work extensively. The cornwell have no distortion in the drive end, I think they are gonna last the longest.

Impact sockets are impact sockets. They will perform just the same as any GP or sunex or craftsman.

I have all kinds of them and they have done well. I use a 12 point 1/2 size 3/8ths drive on my 1/2 inch impact often and it take the beating well. The 3/8ths drive socket fits in a hole better than a regular 1/2 drive does so I run it with an adapter.
