Below are some pics of a Cornwell JR30 that I purchased in 1986. This was my primary 3/8 ratchet until 1997 when I bought a Snap-on F836 mainly because the Cornwell's chrome had become so bad. Since 1997 the JR30 has sat in one of my tool boxes pretty much forgot about as finding a Cornwell truck to provide warranty was not such an easy task. A couple weeks ago I was updating one of my mobile kits and needed another 3/8 drive ratchet in it. I thought of the JR30 and then quickly remembered the peeling chrome. I decided to send it to Cornwell directly and see what happens. In 7 days I had a brand new JR30! Although this ratchet won't see the type of use the original one got as I'm using an F80 since 2008 for my main 3/8. But when I do use the JR30 it will be nice not having ****** hands from chrome splinters. I just hope that the new JR30's chrome stays put as I have to believe that a tool company that has been around for 92 years must know how to apply chrome and have it stay on the tool. I want to believe that original JR30 trouble was just bad luck. Anyone else have this bad luck?
