If you're talking about combination spanners, then that would be a very easy decision. Cornwell combination spanners are some the best in the world; especially the long and extra-long combination spanners.

In the UK the price is similar to Snap on. Snap On has better coverage with more dealers something to think about. I had issues with Cornwell over warranty which they would not resolve.

if you didnt know CWP1616L is the part number for a long pattern 12" cornwell wrench...
I figure he must really like them if he used a part number as a screen name.

He's not the only one. Cornwell does make some very strong, well finished and comfortable to use wrenches (spanners as you say).

The only concern I would have in your position is I do not know if cornwell sells in the UK where warantee can be an issue. But cornwell do have some really nice wrenches and the only top tier brand that still makes the older style open ends

If I were you I'd go with Facom just for the ease of access and service. Cornwell wrenches are quite nice, but Facom's wrenches are nothing to sneeze at.

Cornwell is probably easier to warranty because facom don't got no trucks (that I know of).:bounce:

Though...cornwell don't have a whole lot of trucks either.:wtf: I don't know about europe but I'm guessing it ain't much better there.

If these were my choices and I lived in europe I'd probably buy facom because I'd assume they'd be cheaper (they're probably equally stout); I don't know a lot about the eu tax between countries but think you have fairly high tax on outside imports.

I have both a set Cornwell and Facom wrenches; both are very high quality and either way you cannot go wrong between the two. Cornwell's wrenches have very thick handles which makes them super comfortable especially when you have to apply allot of force. The Facom set I have (440) also has a very thick handle and is very nicely rounded which makes it slightly more comfortable than the Cornwell. The 440 wrenches also have a larger angle of movement thanks to the offset beam and tapered ends (similar to Stalwhile's profile.) If I had to decide between the two I would reach for my Facom set before the Cornwells. Though like I said, you cant go wrong with each set.

If your interested in the Cornwell sets, QuattroJon (a member here) is a Cornwell truck dealer based in the UK. I have bought pliers from him and he shipped them to me, and can attest to his professionalism and courtesy, Jon is a stand up person!

If i only could pick one of the two. I would pick cornwell. But i prefer snap-on wrenchs. Better coverage in all different shapes and sizes and better feel in my opinion.
