Are the Cornwell blue power socket sets any good?

I found a complete 3/8 set for $180.

Was just wondering if they are any good.

I believe they are made by Sunex and are just as tough I would figure.

The Blue Power sockets are OK but, why spend that much money on a Taiwan made socket set? Don't get me wrong, there are some excellent Taiwan made tools and i own many but, I would look at NAPA's Carlyle, Dewalt's mechanic's tools, or Gearwrench where you're going to get similar quality a lot cheaper. Just my opinion.

lot of guys at my work use them, and Matco's ADV's. Seem to hold up well but over priced for made in Taiwan (for me anyways). I'd rather buy sunex or grey pneumatic. I bought Williams USA for $100 8mm to 24mm deeps, as a comparison.

Yes, they are made by Sunex. Very similar to Sunex set number 9147 (google it). The Sunex set can be found for $100 or less but they do not have the sweet coke bottle handled Cornwell ratchet. It also has fewer sockets than the Bluepower set

I have had the Cornwell Bluepower 3/8 set you are looking at for about 6 years. I have had zero issues with the sockets and ratchet. Well made with good chrome and it included the Cornwell JR30 ratchet. If the set is new old stock I would be a buyer closer to $160.

They are relabeled over priced Taiwan made sockets. For that money, you might as well get real Cornwell sockets. I hate how all truck brands are having a "discount" line of tools now.

Fairly typical Taiwan sockets but an interesting ratchet and a really nice case. The metal latches will probably hold up better in a road box than Gearwrench or Tekton. All competition is good but they aren't pricing it very aggressively.

Back in the old days, you might see the Blue-Point name on a ball peen hammer or an air tool that Snap-on doesn't make themselves, yet was still a quality made USA tool; that's the way it should be. But now putting the Blue-Point name on frankenstein drive tools made in Taiwan is awful.

With Snap-on's ownership stake in some Chinese factories, technically, they're putting the Blue Point name on stuff they manufacture.

The regular sockets are good the universals are weak (issue with the pin joint locking up) $180 is a steep steep price for what you get. I got a set with a 3/8 impact gun, metric shallows, and metric swivels for $450 back when I started my job and I’ve used them daily since

I'm not limiting myself but I would never buy a Blue-Point socket or extension if I can buy a USA made Williams for the same price or less.
