Cornwell tool box drawer slides

I've got a cornwell tool box that's about 10 years old that needs some drawer slides. My local cornwell dealer tells me they switched manufacturers and the slides are not being made by them anymore (crazy) but found 4 in 1 of their warehouses. I need at least 4 more and I've got a part number but cant seem to do anything with it. I was told Waterloo made the slides. All help appreciated.

the sticker says 24 inch but the box isn't 24 deep so im confused with that also.

I'll send these to waterloo and see what happens looks to be 21 and 1/4 closed. Showing M16398-D on th outer rail and M16398-U and Twain. I thought cornwell boxes were better than this.

Better than what? Ball bearing drawer slides are almost exclusively from Taiwan and everyone uses them.

As far as legacy support, unfortunately this is an area where Snap-on (and Vista/Vidmar) excels. I guess if you plan on keeping a box for 20, 30, 40+ years you might want to consider getting some spare slides right away. Cornwell support may become better as they recently purchased Kennedy where before they were always contract produced by Waterloo.

Yea you are correct. I mainly meant better than no replacement parts available after 8-10 years?? The box has a hutch and the struts for the lid are no longer available.
Ive got a double bank snapon that's older but if I need slides theres no issue and they are replaced for free.

I do have an e-mail in to waterloo a.k.a The Stanley Black and Decker Company.

Pretty sure those are made by accuride

Ive looked at quite a few of the accuride slides on their website and they don't look the same nor have the odd measurement of 21 and 1/4. doesn't mean they aren't made by them though as sometimes things could be right in front of me......

After coming home and looking at my pics on the home computer I now realize how bad my photos are.

This *****. Finally got ahold of waterloo. While the part number 16398 is a good number its discontinued. They said when they quit making the boxes for cornwell the entire inventory was given to them. Not real sure where to go from here.

I was looking at buying an older Cornwell box a few weeks ago. It was relatively cheaply priced but missing keys, a handle, and needed some slides. Kind of glad I didn't buy it now.

I pulled the numbers off the struts for the hutch and sent them to JWF Stabilus
and bought the pair. I received them today and test fit on Tuesday. If I could just find some replacement slides it would be a decent tool box.

No luck with accride. After reviewing the measurements and part number they said these are custom made slides

I have to say if I had know how bad cornwell customer service was Id would have never bought one of their tool boxes. I know their reps had changed serval times in the area but they just don't seem to care. This was not a cheap tool box and in hind site I should have bought snapon or matco. Still in disbelief that the box isn't serviceable after 8-10 years.

I have a hard time believing that Accuride made the slides custom made for Cornwell. That sounds like an excuse Accuride is using not to help somebody out. Most manufacturers try to use "off the shelf parts" in order to same money because custom made parts are very expensive.

Let me post these Accuride drawings. They will show you exactly how to measure the slides. Pay close attention to the bayonet spacing center to center. The most important measurements are the length of the slides in the closed position and the bayonet spacing; that is what makes it possible for the slides to fit the box. Don't let Accuride off the hook just yet.

Don't forget to click on the images to enlarge.

I could be wrong but I don't think accuride made them, I think it was Waterloo  At the same time It could be that Waterloo sourced them from accuride when they were making the boxes for Cornwell. Either way its a mess.

When I talked to Waterloo customer support (that was fun) they insisted that they no longer carried the part and all parts they had were given to Cornwell and there was nothing they could do.

I need to bring one home and compare measurements to those in the charts you shared.

I have a Cornwell box with one bad slide. Mine too do not match anything on Accuride site. Mine have "SHABC" on them, however their site was difficult and I found no bayonet type slides.

I've also tried multiple ways to contact Cornwell and gotten no response. Calling them during their hours is very inconvenient with my employment.

I suspect that the boxes are not made by Cornwell, possibly Waterloo as suggested here, as I have seen several Matco boxes for sale that are exactly the same except for color.

Any suggestions ? TIA20190331_170836.jpeg20190331_170845.jpeg20190331_170937.jpeg20190331_170913.jpeg20190331_170919.jpeg20190331_170950.jpegScreenshot_20190331-171136_Chrome.jpeg

After looking at several websites, it seems that whoever made these for Cornwell and Matco for some reason did not use what seems to be a fairly standard set of dimensions........

I find a lot of companies ignore emails. I have spoken to Waterloo in the past. Get a number and call. It is a little harder to be ignored on the phone. Not much but a little.

Homak manufactures pretty much exclusively in China and Taiwan. The only thing they might have a hand in is carts if their imported like Cornwell and the cheaper Matco stuff. Always worth reaching out, worse thing they can do is say they cant help you.

The Cornwell part number is CTBM16398 I ended up getting 4 from a semi local dealer as I had to travel 30 minutes and meet the driver. I had to wait several months to get them.I had no luck matching them up with other slide manufacturers.

I have found since then I need a few more slides but contacting Cornwell is pretty much impossible. I’ve sent half dozen emails and left voicemails I the past 2 months. Their customer service is basically nonexistent
