I really need to take pics of my Cornwell stuff. I have like 7 ratchets a couple screwdriver. Sets. And some pliers. Wanted to buy more but my driver threw in the towel.

Anyone know when the opening for the snap ring went from small (left) to large or when they started stamping numbers on top ?

Does anyone know what year my Box was made? I've never been able to get an exact date...Or where the date code would be?

Thanks guys!

This is a long shot. The box is most likely made by waterloo. Waterloo makes craftsman boxes. For years and years, craftsman's were date stamped inside the top till. I was able to find 5-63 stamped in the left great corner near the drawer locking mechanism.

You are 100% on this. Mine that is similar to his had a date stamp somewhere inside of the top lid. Mine is a 1974.

There is nothing in the top by the lock, there is a tag (I think) on top behind the tray...but no info on it.

Interesting about the Waterloo, I have a MAC box (lower) that is from the same era and actually looks like it goes with the Cornwell...Good heavy Duty QUALITY boxes. I'd take all I can find. I'd put both boxes up againt my KRL series any day quality wise.

I'll go out and look again tonight....stay tuned!

I figure mine to be about 10-15 years older than your 74....It was very used when I got it in 76. Heck, the grease and dirt inside it was OLD...LOL

Don't take being made by waterloo as an insult. They were a top notch box builder in the day. My grandpa's craftsman from 1963 still works perfect. He is almost 90 and has worked out of it pretty much everyday since buying it.

All good here, I love the old Waterloo boxes....I have another shot I'll try to post of the same era Dayton...all three look VERY similar and no doubt may have been the same MFG.
