Cornwell Tool truck

my good friend/tech at my work had caught the Cornwell tool truck at my work location. he has his grandpa tools that need to warranty. same time he asked me to see him. so i did look at it and it is very nice and better is the dealer are very nice and had whole tools priced tag on it so i dont need to ask for price every time!

i was little upset that mac tool dealer said the double flex ratcheting wrench is for 13mm is 54 dollars while cornwell tool is for 28 dollars! i dont understand why it is big difference!! it made me more likely to buy what i need from cornwell not mac... i am always looking at compare the price and tools to see if it is similar or not...

If you're fortunate enough to be on a Cornwell tool truck you need to buy ratchets. Especially the JR72.

IMHO Cornwell ratchets are the best out there but you can't buy them online and Cornwell tool dealers are incredibly scarce.

+1 for the ratchets, cheaper than the dual80's and the handle design is awesome. That of course is subjective but give them a feel, some people including me really like them. I only wish they were easier to get ahold of.

Yep I'm only 30-40 minutes away from their forge and still have never seen a cornwell truck

LOL-sometimes, your posts are challenging to read, but you sure try! I can see where not being able to hear well could mess things up, you do a great job not being able to hear.

As for the Cornwell stuff, I got nothing to add, I don't think I own a single piece of Cornwell stuff.

if i had to only pick 2 cornwell tools/sets in would be a JR40 and WBWMLHP-7ST.

Have never seen a Cornwell truck in Los Angeles, not one time. I have seen them in Santee in San Diego just about every time i go down there. Why no Cornwell in Los Angeles? This is a very large market here.

...used to have a Cornwell truck stop at the shop I worked at. I bought a flask and a set of diagnostic dice from the guy.

On a serious note, I never did buy much from Cornwell because I had a good relationship with the Snap-On dealer. But one of my few purchases, I did buy a 19mm stubby wrench and I would say it's a pretty high quality tool. I wouldn't be afraid to buy stuff from Cornwell if I needed to.

There are two Cornwell trucks fighting over the route here, you can take em both. The tools look okay and my apprentice likes them but nothing looks like a deal when I see the truck.

Well if you want that 1/2 ir titanium gun get it from your cornwell guy. Apparently cornwell rebrands it and my local guy sells it on the truck for $300. Ive had a great experience with their hex, torx, torx security, and external torx sockets. I think they are outsourced but they hold up to my air tools fine so far. Their sales flyers are always great. If the item is made in the USA it will say so right next to it. The prices on sale items is always the best.

I know a group of German mechanics that love the SO ratchets but won't buy the sockets (they'll go Hazet or Stahlwille). I love SO ratchets with the easy-grip handles. Perfect for fixing machinery that's got lube or oil or coolant everywhere. Haven't tried a Cornwell rat., but I've got a set of their combo wrenches and I really like them.

I believe Stahlwille has a lifetime warranty for their USA distribution to match other tool companies. Hazet is still 1 or 2 years. Both are much more strict than the truck brands though, they wont warranty worn out tools, just ones that broken legitimately due to a manufacturing fault/defect.

Dunno, but warranty on something like a socket isn't a selling point for me. I've never broken a socket that's being used for a hand tool. (Most of the warranty items I've taken advantage of have been SO and that was because the tools were abused or in some cases were automotive quality that couldn't hold up to constant industrial use).

The only ones I've broken are impacts used on a impact wrench. And that's been through extended use. I use the Apex and they don't warranty them but they're great quality for the price and I don't see the point of going through a warranty for a $15 socket used on an assembly line.

McMaster Carr has a truck? Or do you mean UPS?

McMaster contracts out delivery service for same-day if you're in a city near one of their warehouses. At least this is the case for the service in Los Angeles. The one they use for this city only exists here - at least according to a quick internet search. I've never gotten anything via UPS from McMaster.

ok I will bite, what do you need the double flex 13mm for? is it a ford thing? I know there is the one Cornwell dealer here in Indianapolis. this must be the one. I heard he just picks and chooses random places to go.

Cornwell is reputed to have some realy high quality professional grade tools for the mechanic/technician. However I have no Cornwell tools in my personal arsenal so I can't speak to them from any personal experience. I do own several older American made MAC hand tool, mostly various sockets, extentions, and a metric/standard set of offset box-end wrenches, but I doubt I'd ever buy any of the newer stuff from MAC today if I needed anything.

Back in the day I always hated buying anything off the tool trucks and would avoid it if I could find the equivelent for less money through some other avenue. If you have a tool dealer that's nice and provides you with good customer service, then give him your business. Most tool truck dealers I came across were anything but customer oriented. The few tools I ever bought off the trucks were bought out of nessesity because I had no other viable option for those particular specialty tools or they were sometimes bought because I needed a particular tool immediatley at the moment and the truck happened to be there at the right time.

Plenty? Simply? Before I passed judgment in those instances, I'd sure want to know all the factors involved.

I quess I'm fortunate here in North County (Oceanside), we get Snap On and Matco on Tuesday's , Cornwell on Friday and a Stahlwillie truck from Orange County every other week. Offer stands on the West Coast,need something let me know
