Nothing ever takes five minutes.

If you spend 500 he does not make 500.....

Well I specifically said "a $500 sale," I never said he'd make $500 off the sale. I'm aware of the distinction, just as I'm sure you're aware of what I wrote, since you quoted it and all. ;)

Let's just agree to disagree on the rest. There's no value in an argument about how much longer than 5 minutes a dealer should need to take my cash, hand me 3 ratchets and a box with an unassembled service cart. :dunno:

When I was a dealer (Cornwell), I'd sell to anyone. If you had cash, you got 10% off and could buy whatever you wanted.

I'm sorry you are having trouble. I like the Cornwell tools I have, mostly ratchets as their 30 tooth units are my go-tos. Plus the whole buy local thing.

I do agree with you, I wish they would do online sales. Even if it was like Snap-on where everything is full list price, no flyer deals. Seems like a lot of folk don't have convenient access to a driver, how can other truck brands sell online and not undercut the trucks???

My driver is cool. Granted only bought a couple things from him, but he lives 15 min away and meets customers at his house by appt. Also friendly and discounted a bit for cash. He has rebuilt 2 of my pawn shop/marketplace Cornwell ratchet finds "no questions asked".

Yup, my JR30 is one of my favorite 3/8" ratchets. Was really hoping to add a 1/2" to the stable and the 1/4" as well but I guess it's not in the cards. There's occasionally new or very gently used ones up on eBay and the like, so I'll just have to wait it out. In the meantime, got a few Matco items I can put the funds toward instead. :rocker:

First of all, SO.com is not likely to be competition to the truck. It's likely a very high percentage of incremental sales.

Secondly, SO gives the dealers a piece of the action from online sales to keep them happy.

It's anyone's guess why Cornwell hasn't figured this out. Focusing on baby bibs vs. tools:lol_hitti

I'm surprised Cornwell is still in business.

It was a great little company until a whole bunch of the guys who screwed up MAC Tools left MAC and went to Cornwell (back in the late 90s).

Maybe someone on here would be willing to act as an intermediary and ship it to you, if you want it bad enough. Like I said, I found a dealer on Facebook and used messenger. I offered to pay upfront to order the stuff and picked them up promptly when they came in. He was happy for the business. The local dealer did not return my messages.

My local trucks are that way. Cash talks. That said I’ve always tried to meet them at a shop and I don’t waste their time for my weekend warrior needs. I’ve also just left cash with a buddy and the item number I needed. All that being said, I don’t understand guys who will run off a potential customer, especially if they’re paying cash. You don’t always know who that guy is and how much he might be worth. I can think of one old man around here who just looks like any other farmer/rancher and is worth more money than I can wrap my head around. He could buy the snap on truck and inventory if he wanted it without denting his bank account. I guess my rant is to say it never hurts to be nice to someone in business, especially sales.

Prices went up, service went down (seemed like half the catalog was on backorder), seemed they were more interested in bossing their dealers around than remembering the dealers were their customers, etc, etc, etc.

This sounds about right. The one dealer told me that at Cornwell "everything is on backorder right now." :rolleyes2

No wonder they’ve gone out of their way to kiss *** and try and regain market share I’ve noticed. In my little hometown your choice is basically Snap-On or Mac. Never have seen a Cornwell or Matco truck in town. Maybe a business opportunity lol.

I’m in Texas but believe it or not I have a Cornwall dealer That lives one block to the right, and another that lives 3 blocks behind me. And both have been living there for several years

Don’t feel bad we don’t have one around here either anymore. We used too then he passed away. He would not sell to the public though only shops once there was a younger guy who showed up to my shop to get on the truck and he run him off saying I’m not selling no tools to some weekend warrior or some construction workers these are professional tools. After that I never went on his truck again. Never have been able to locate another dealer the next closest one is like 200 miles away. I’ve pretty much wrote Cornwell off my list of tool companies.

I have seen a Cornwell dealer in Elkton,VA heading south on US 340. But I didn't really need anything so I didn't bother chasing him down. But I think they do exist less than 200 miles of you. Maybe Cornwell is a bit like Bigfoot, not sure.

I have my wife's grand dad's old toolbox and there's quite a bit of Cornwell in there. I had heard that in the early days of the big name tool companies, Snap-On and Cornwell were very much on equal grounds. Very very much #1 and #2 in the tool biz.

So my first dealing with Cornwell came in 2004. Nice young man started coming around, his father-in-law was his boss and also ran a truck. They were doing great here in the Middle Tennessee area. Young dude ended up with addiction issues and the empire folded. It was a shame, I really liked their tools.

What do you do that you don't realize there are a lot of companies facing catastrophic supply chain problems right now?

The whole world's on backorder.

What do I do? An awful lot of things since writing the 86-day old post that you're referring to.

We can agree to disagree on the rest. Not interested in a debate 86 days after the fact, I'd rather leave that kind of **** to Free Parking where it belongs.

That other dude replied first and bumped it to the top. I didn't look at the date on your post, my bad.

Anyhow it hasn't gotten much better in 86 days(did you count them?). No tools for you.

Sorry if it disappoints you, but I actually I picked up the ratchets in the secondary market and posted them in the new arrivals thread. Like I said, lots of things got done in the intervening 86 days. ;)

Both the MAC and Cornwell trucks, from my experience, are not interested in the smaller shops. They seem to only care for the dealerships.

In fact, we had problems getting the Matco and/or Snap On guy to come by some of the shops I worked at. Most of the time if they did show up, it was for me.
When i was a Snap On dealer I did well at machine shops. Dealerships not so much. Lots of older guys not needing any more tools.
