Correct Quincy compressor for me?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Quincy compressor. I decided on the QTSV-45 60gallon 1 phase model.

The primary qualities I was looking for is low noise and dependable service life.

The tools I would be running on it most of the time are:
Nailers (finish,framing..)
Impact wrenches and ratchets
die grinder

I will also ocasionaly use it for:
Sandblasting cabinet
Plasma cutter
air hammer
Paint gun


If any one has anything negative to say about that quincy model (maybe I'm not aware of some quirk of a perticular model) or thinks I should go for a different model, please let me know.

quincy makes a good quality unit...you should be happy with whatever you go with..

something negative to say about a Quincy ? I don't think anyone has ever said anything negative about them. Great compressor, you will be very happy.

I got a Champion serveral years back and I don't remember the reason, I was boucing back and forth between Quincy and Champion of the same range, looked quite a bit into both, either is a great compressor.

I had the chance to hear a Quincy running once. I could not believe how slow the pump and motor ran, or how quiet it was. If I can afford it when the time comes, I'd love to have one.

Didn't they used to be burgundy colored?

When I purchased my Champion, the sales guy told me the slower the pump revolutions the quieter, the Quincy was 385RPM and the Champion was 365RPM so I went with Champion. I have 2 friends with Quincy and you can't tell the difference they are the quiestet things around. Unless you go to Rotary Screw compre$$ors, now those are QUIET.

Both my friends abuse their Quincy's and never a problem and yes they used to be Burgundy.

Two stage will put less water in the system, more will condense out in the tank, due to higher temps. Two stage will not cycle as often for the same amount of air consumption, biigger tank will make the compressor cycle less often/run longer each cycle, which is good. Buy the biggest you can possibly afford, you will never be unhappy with compressor capacity you bought and haven't used, you will be unhappy if you need more than you bought.

30 years ago I purchased a single stage 5 HP Speedair air compressor with a 60 gallon tank. Soon after I purchased it I knew that I need to upgrade it to two-stage unit with an 80-gallon tank. If you can find the room go for the bigger tank go for it. And spring for the few extra dollars for a two-stage. You’ll be glad you did.

Have you looked at the Devair units? They used to be Devillebus and are now only made in Barrie Ontario Canada. I have seen their TAPV 5052 and was very impressed. Air Compressor Exchange in Toledo Ohio markets them in Ohio and cost $1795.00 US. That is a two-stage compressor with pressure lubrication (not splash) that runs at 635 RPM, delivers an impressive 19.1 CFM @ 175lbs, 80-gallon tank, a 5-year warrantee, and includes a motor starter. I have no idea what they cost in Canada; but import taxes and shorter shipping may lower the cost enough to balance the dollar exchange.

I went ahead and ordered that unit. I should be getting it on monday.

Toolmaker: I have seen the devair units. But the price point was a little to high. They are very nice units, but I had to draw the line somewhere.
