I have a 2 quart aluminum Wilkerson dessicant dryer that I bought used about a year ago. When I got it, it had some corrosion inside, the white powdery stuff. I cleaned it and put new beads in it when I got it but it appears I may not have been keeping on top of checking the beads because I just opened it up and found there is now a lot more white powder than it had before.
Is there some kind of cleaner I can put inside to dissolve the powder/corrosion like CLR or something? After that, is there a POR-15 kind of product out there that I can paint over the aluminum and whatever corrosion might still be in there? The canister is almost 2' tall and hard to reach down into it and sandpaper isn't going to work. What about blasting it clean with some coal slag that I have?
I might also ask it there is an estimated number of hours you can get out of these things before have to replace or dry the beads out? Have been using my air tools a lot lately and need to get this thing back in service pdq.
I have about 40' of copper pipe before the dryer plus a Devilbiss filter/water separator and a Motorguard filter.
Thanks!
