Corrugated Metal Ceiling and Lighting

For folks who have corrugated metal (R Panel) ceilings with lighting mounted to it, how did you do it? Did you put the electrical boxes in first like you would if it was drywall? Did you cut out and mount the boxes after the ceiling was up (I have top access). Did you just run conduit or Armorlite and surface mount the boxes and lights?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm about to start on electrical and want to have plan for the ceiling lighting.

I have seen it done both ways. if flush mounting boxes placing them before putting the ceiling up is probably easier just have to make sure the box lands on the flats of the panel.

I roughed in the wiring, put the ceiling up, mounted the lights where I wanted them, drilled through the metal ceiling and the fixture with a step bit, used a plastic grommet, and connected the lights. The light fixture functions as the junction box.

I did hanging HighBay UFO lights. I also have a 0-10 dimmer, so there is an extra wire run to support that.

I did the same as above, but I mounted a j-box to the ceiling. The lights are wired into the j-box. The light itself hangs on a large eye bolt near the j-box.

I added framing to support everything.

My ceiling is not up yet, but since I'm running two sets of LED strip lights on 2 switches (one to control front of shop and one for the back) I wired up the switches and ran each romex wire to roughly where my first light fixture will be. Then, one my ceiling is up I will drill a hole thru the metal panel for my wire entrance and connect first fixture. From there, I'm going to use flush mount EMT to connect the rest of the lights.
