**UPDATE**

For an entire year I have been contemplating what to do about my garage floor. My initial plan was to use race deck flooring. However my preference is to have a more sophisticated and finished look. So after much deliberation a friend of mine and I decided to go ahead and porcelain tile my garage floor ourselves.

Here we are returning from Lowe's with what I approximate to be a half of a ton loaded in the back of my suburban

A before we begin picture. We did pressure wash the floor the day before. No pictures of that.

Test fitting

We begin actually laying the floor down

this is as far as we got after about 6 hours of hard work. Going to feel it tomorrow. :willy_nil

Day one end.

Newest addition to the Corvette Garage. sadly the black C6 got kicked outside :(

2014 Arctic White Corvette stingray, seven speed manual, 3LT, magnetic ride suspension, Z51 package, with black interior

Beautiful new Vette. The new body is making me want one. The wife said I could get one if I sold one of the laundromats. She insists we never have a car payment. Sadly I can't part with any of my stores so until then I will lust after yours. I love the white and would probably get that as well.

I like the tile too. I ruled out epoxy because it is so hit or miss. Race deck looks like Legos with some of the colors. Tile is nice and you can do some cool designs. Best of luck.

Nice work! Going to have a great result.
Thank you, I hope so

Beautiful cars and awesome garage. Great job
Much appreciated

Thats a great idea. I would love to do it in my garage but I think the floor is too uneven and may crack the tiles :(

Uneven and low spots are very easy to correct. Tiles are an excellent choice for a working garage!!
Yes and no...I know your the tile master. But some floors are too far gone sometimes. I love your garage floor. It was another picture that inspired me to do this. I would have done a design. The lift complicated it for me so I stayed simple.

Love the look of the tiles! The 'vettes? Epic win. Fellow PA resident; this past winter was balls! :eyecrazy:
Ya, man this winter was a rough one. Enjoying this recent weather. ;)

All I can say is YOLO, so go get yourself one. Trading a source of income for a purchase doesn't sound very business wise.

Day 3 of tiling progress

Wow. Nice work and nice cars. Every time they come out with a new Vette I think "Man, I think I like the last one better." Then in about 6 months, they really start growing on me. I think you have a problem though... It appears as though you are collecting one from each era. What are you going to do when you get a C1, C2 and C5? Extend the garage? Build another? Inquiring minds want to know...

Thank you, Yeah I just can't bring myself to sell any of them. I get close and then back out. I love each one too much and each has their own sentimental value. If there is any chance of adding another Vette in future. I would have to say it's likely to be a C2. Preferably a 1963.

My interest levels relatively low in the C5. But don't get me wrong there is some seriously sweet C5's out there. And a C1 is just too expensive and quite frankly the worst driving Vette ever built. I really do wish I had a larger garage, if I did I probably would be adding more cars to the collection. However the space limitation seems to keep me in check. Its bad enough my C6 has to sit outside now.

Which tile did you use? What size are they? Compared to Racedeck was it cheaper?

Just bought a vette myself, and oddly live in the suburbs of Philadelphia too. Now i'm just trying to finish off my garage with a new floor to park it on.

Nice set up. I think its time to add another 4 post lift so you can get all 4 of the toys in your garage.

The tiles are 18" roman stone from Lowe's. I couldn't say what the cost difference would be because I didn't end up using racedeck. I think it would have been close to the same but I laid the tile myself. I'm going to be getting a shed for the landscaping equipment and will do racedeck in there.
What suburbs do you live? I'm near Ardmore.

I wish, if I add another lift I won't be able to walk around in the garage at all. But thanks for the kind comments

garage and collection looks great... i'm so jealous...

did you go with grey grout?

I appreciate that. Yes, charcoal gray.

I'm in the same situation, I keep all my yard tools/equipment in the shed and only have fishing and car stuff in the garage, most stored off the floor.

I'll check out the tiles at Lowes. I have a blue/white (Penn State) theme going on so maybe a grayish tile would work. Do you have any fear of dropping tools or using a jack on them?

I live in Bucks County, are you a member of any Corvette clubs nearby? I'm new to the Corvette scene. Hoping to do a Toys for Tots run in the fall and maybe Corvettes at Carlisle in August.

I don't think I would use a jack on the tile.... I bought extra tile in case of a chip or crack. I like the blue and white Penn state theame. I'm Penn state alumni '05.
No I'm not a member of any club but I will definitely be going to Carlisle in Augest. How old are you?

Love the collection, well done!

I would steal some colors off the cars.

White or light gray wall, maybe a 6" wide blue stripe, then a 1" red stripe top and bottom, and a 1/2" black on the the outside of it all.

This is just a quick idea in MS Paint, but the colors could come from your cars. Then the Corvette flag above the line.

Very cool, thanks! I bet you some kind of close variation to what you just showed me ends up on my wall

Garage looks great (and so do your Corvettes!) I had an '88 Convertible a few years ago but sold it. My daughter's used to call it "The Barbie Car" :)

Somebody told me this was the source of inspiration for the Corvette taillights. I don't know if it's true or not but I certainly can see why they would say that.

I would have to chalk that up as coincidental. In my earlier years I was quite involved with Corvettes having owned 5 and having worked at a place called Corvette Auto Parts. I think the round taillights that first appeared on the '61 were copying Ferrari and other Euro sports cars. I hated to see them go after such a long time. But even Ferrari has moved on.

The garage and cars look great Scotty. Very nice Grand Sport. I also have a 96 which is not a Grand Sport but does have the LT4 option. Always wanted an early C3 but that 96 is a great car to drive. I have also reached my capacity for cars. Kind of wish I was the type who found it easy to sell stuff so I could look for another but I just seem to hold onto things forever..
