I saw a video of Their toolbox facility a few years back, and it was in Mexico. Recently on that "Gearz" show with Stacey David, He toured the Cornwell toolbox plant and it seemed like it was stateside, but I was only making a guess based on the fact that all of the employees seemed like they werent from Mexico.

Just wondering. I dont know why I care, since I dont need a box, and I never see Cornwell trucks anyway

Yes, the Kennedy website even shows CQT (Cornwell Quality Tools) at the bottom. I spoke with a dealer about 2 months ago. He told me that Kennedy will continue to make their own product but also make Cornwell boxes from now on. He also said that accessories (hutch, side cabinet, etc.) for the Waterloo made boxes will become unavailable.

Cornwelll boxes have been Waterloo for a while and for a few years boxes have been made in Mexico. Cornwell bought Kennedy lasr year. They have new boxes out aimed at SO classics that are being proudly advertised made in Ohio. My guess in time as contracts with Waterloo expire and Kennedy designs and tools up, all cornwell boxes will be made in Ohio.

I have an older Matco box like this in my basement, and have seen old Mac boxes which were identical, but with different handles that said Mac. I also owned a Cornwell top box at one point that was identical to this design, with cornwell handles.

From what I was always told, Waterloo made the boxes for all three tool companies. I think at the time Matco was actually the tool box division of Mac (Mac-Allied-tool-company)

When did waterloo abandon that box design? I think they are great classic boxes. Although many small drawers isnt as good as modern boxes with less drawers that are larger

Matco has always made their own boxes and made boxes for Mac up until ±1980.

Mac and matco boxes were basically the same, if not the same threw the 80's after the 2 split. Waterloo look similar because of the drawer pulls, but as far as I know, were never connected or a source for Mac or matco boxes.

The switch to Kennedy made boxes for Cornwell is history repeating itself. :wtf:

Cornwell has used Remline, Kennedy, and Waterloo over the years. I have a 60 inch wide top & bottom with end cab that was made by Kennedy for Cornwell over 15 years ago. The downside to Cornwell switching suppliers is that you can't get parts support for their boxes after they switch suppliers.

I wonder if Kennedy will make Cornwell's carts :dunno:

So my old cornwell top box probably was a Waterloo built unit? I remember vividly that it looked just like other mac and matco boxes of the era
