What is the going rate per sq ft for professional garage floor coating installation?

500 sq ft 2 car attached and finished garage. Contractor will remove items, prep floor with acid wash, fill cracks and holes, etc. lay down coating and chips, follow up with buff and clear coat. Using top quality Arizona Polymer.

What is a good price per sq ft?

He has quoted me $2.75 per sq ft, we settled on $1200 ($2.40), sounds like a good deal.

I checked out one he did and it looked great, I also saw his garage floor and it will be the same color/chips I selected. He did a very good job on my patio.

prep with cleaning w/acid wash only? is your slab already near pristine?

if so, might as well just do it yourself (if you have the time/inclination, of course).

i have a friends' home where the floor was done professionally w/lots of prep, and that epoxy is unreal. you can whack it with a hammer and it doesn't flinch.

Relatively new home and slab is in very good condition, in addition to acid wash, he is going to grind, fill holes and cracks, etc. full prep before coating.

If a spiral grind is done an acid wash isn't needed. In fact it's not the thing to do. I allways tell clients, you get what you pay for. Hopefully you get more than that.

speedrx, I have just gone through this entire process my self.

You have not listed step by step, coating by coating enough info for us to come to a conclusion on your contractors price......however I must say that $2.40 is too low in my opinion to have all the correct steps and processes ????

1) Grinding (NO Acid)

2) AZ Polymers amongst others makes a two part crack filling GEL
that can also fill small imperfections/holes. After this GEL dries you need to go back over it with a 7" grinder and diamond disc to smooth everything

3) Apply epoxy primer (which in my case was
a clear coat of vapor barrier epoxy)

4) Apply pigmented/colored epoxy (in my case was a second coat of
of pigmented vapor barrier that we broadcast into)

5) Broadcast Chips to refusual/rejection or just a sprinkling (HUGE difference
in cost)

6) IF full broadcast, scrape entire surface with Home Depot sharp edge floor scraper
and save recovered chips for future use.

7) Apply clear epoxy over chips

8) Apply Polyurethane OR Polyaspartic over epoxy

I spent ALOT more than $2.40 sq ft
