Has anyone used the Epoxyguard from Costco. I'm looking to do my garage but I don't know too much about this stuff and do not want to get ripped off. I've read many of threads here but just get more confused. I do not want to here from someone trying to push their product, I'm asking for help from the average DIYer.

thank you,

Victor,

I am not sure the pricing on the CostCo stuff as I don't have any of those stores around my parts. However, I can tell you that I bought my stuff from www.originalcolorchips.com and so far I love it. I had to do 780 ft2 and it cost me $616.00 for everything including the 2/3 person apllication kit and two pair of spike shoes(you need these trust me).

According to their website it was going to be more but I had a couple questions so I called and talked with a representative there. He was very helpful and suggested I go with the solvent based product. He gave it to me at the same price and they also gave me free shipping because of a special they had going on.

I suggest you call them and see what they can do for you. They also have a design tool on their site so you can play with colors to find something you like.

I might add that if you use the solvent you get a respirator. I literally just finished the clear top coat and that stuff is strong!

Car99er,

Hey thanks for the reply. From the information that I've obtained from this site, most people say that 100% solid epoxy is the best. The product from Costco is that, http://www.epoxyguard.net/index.html

At the epoxy guard web site they sell it for $295 but at Costco it is $219. Seems to be a really good deal.

So how long has your floor been in?

I just ordered EpoxyGuard but not from costco since I wanted dark gray color. Anyway, I will post pics in couoke of weeks once I receive the product and finish the project.

I hope I made a right choice.

I just put my floor down about 5 days ago... Looks great so we will see how it holds up.

I can tell you that the clear coat is strong. I bought that 45 gallon flammable cabinet and the day after I put down clear coat I decided to move it in since it was getting ready to rain. I took it on a dolly and then set it down. I forgot to put the legs on so it was the metal edges sitting on the floor. I started pushing it over about 3-4 inches before I realized what I had done. My first thought was I scraped the clear coat off or gouged the floor. I then stuck the dolly back under it and tipped it forward to install legs and check out the floor. NOT A SCRATCH!

I think I am going to really like it!

Shop looks good but I did not see pics of finished floor. Btw, in one of your posts above, you are referring to clear coat strenght. I thought Epoxy Guard is single coat application?

Bob,

Victor was askign about the CostCo Epoxycoat. I just was telling/sharing the information of my floor with him. I did not use the Epoxycoat because it did not have a clear coat.

You must not have read the entire post because on the 2nd page of the thread there are pictures with the epoxy base caot down and vinyl decal down. I have not got any pictures yet with the clear coat on since I have been working twelve hour shifts.

Here are a couple before clear coat...

Victor,
Have you decided on a product yet? Just curious how things are going...

I actually still haven't figured out which one to buy. I was reading this morning about the "Armorclad" product. It seems good, 100% solids, Clear coat and 6 lbs of flakes for a reasonable price. I guess I'll have to flip a coin and see where it lands.

I've also been trying to find a diamond grinder out here but no luck. So I went to HD and picked up some muratic acid. They actually kept it in the garden section. The box states that it is for pools. I also just masked and covered my wall with plastic. So first thing tomorrow, I'll go ahead and try the acid.

By the way, it must be nice having the space to build a dream garage.

I have never heard of the Armorclad stuff? I think you will be happy with whatever you decide because it makes such a huge difference on the floors.

Here is a before/after picture of mine...lol

As you can see a BIG difference...

As far as dream garage goes I am far away from that. This one is not big enough for lifts and such but maybe some day when my kids are grown and gone? I have one who is 17 and one that is 5... Ways to go!

Keep us posted on your floor
