Don't know if you folks are aware, but Costco has a Whalen 8' steel work bench with a 1 3/8" butcher block top for $200.00. I haven't set mine up yet as I am waiting to do the floor first, but it is one solid unit.

Package wieght is 200lbs. It looks like 4" powder coated steel and is I believe bar hieght so that a rolling tool chest can slide under.

Part #162584. I'm not sure if it is available online or not.

They do still sell them. My dad bought one a few weeks ago. It took several hours to assemble, but it's a very nice bench.

Those are good benches. I put two in the new garage. I also modified them by adding a backspash board. I used clear 1X10 board stock and finished it in clear and it matches the benches perfectly. Fastened it to bench with counersunk screws. Used some clear caulking to seal the joint so it won't collect dust and shavings.

Also installed one the costco fastener drawers under one of the benches. It is sort of hard to see the backsplash because it blends in so well. I still see these at costco in Los Angeles..

Hey Stargeezer,
Could you measure the bottom between the post, and space from the bottom rail to the front? Trying to figure out if two of the HF rolling chest will fit under the bench. The boxes are 34 1/2H (without casters), 18"d, 41"wide.
I am a Sam's Club memeber but that bench is only 6' then they put a center brace.

I bought one of these from Costco earlier this year and I've been really happy with it. The only minor downside to it is that the top scratches, but hey it's wood. I need to get some steel plate and/or rubber to put down on the table surface to prevent scratches.
