Hey all,
I'm getting to the point in my garage build that I need to start getting things around for heat. I'd like to put radiant heat in the floor, but I'm not sure about a couple of things. My garage is 30'x30' (900 sq ft).
1. What size tubing should I use and how far apart should the loops be? I've been told that I should use 3/4" tubing spaced at 1' apart, however 3/4" tubing is much more expensive that 1/2". It almost seems cheaper to use 1/2" spaced closer.
2. What is everyone using to heat their water for the floor? I've been told I can use a regular old hot water heater, but I'm not sure of how large of one to use. I've also seen people use electric boilers, which look nice because they don't take up floor space, but are expensive.
3. Lastly, what about thermostats/control systems for the circulator pump? Can I just use a regular thermostat, or do I need one made for a radiant heat setup?
Thanks,
Jeremy
