My dad has a mill, lathe, welder, etc in his garage so everynow and again an idea will pop into my head and then I'll go make it. Figured I would show a couple of the projects that I have done.

This first one was to make a Hurst pistol grip shifter fit on my stock shifter in my Neon.

Then I figured it was time for a change. So I adapted the idea to make it work with a B&M t-handle.

Nothing too fancy here, just made a shorty antenna. They are cheap enough to buy, but why buy something when you can make it.

It's great you have access to all that equipment. What is greater, is you know how to use it.

Please keep us up to date on other things you fab.

Thanks

I've been thinking of switching shift knobs again. I wanted to get a ball with the 5 speed H pattern on it, but I'd also like to go back to the pistol grip.

Here's a couple other things I made. The first is a bracket to mount my XM Roady 2.

And this was a because I can kind of project. A ram air scoop and piping. I used leftover PVC and metal, the lid for the airbox I got from the junk yard for $5 or $10. I think after the couplers I have a total of $20-$25 in it. It was fun.

Man, I get **** no matter where I go about that pic with the dirty carpet, lol. You should see it now, I haven't had much time to really do anything with it. I cleaned the outside last weekend to take some pics to submit for my other forums calendar but thats about it. Shoot you should see my company car.

I listened to O&A everyday while I drove this car an hour+ each way for school. Then I got a good job and got a company car. I was under the impression that new radios would be release soon (maybe I should check that out) and then I was going to get one for my company car. But for now the only time when I get to listen to them is when I drive up to the NYC area.

Next time you see a road covered with a few inches of water and wonder if you should give it a try, think about how easy it is to compress water. Hydraulic lock does very nasty things very quickly in an engine. A scoop that low just scares me to no end. I remember the Pontiac Grand Ams with the Quad 4 engines having the air intake really low, we had some flooding in the area after a weekend of very heavy rains. The next day there were a half dozen Grand Am's with blown motors lined up outside the local dealership, "I can get across that no problem at all", NOT.

I'm not that stupid lol

That was a one time deal that I used at the race track only. I wouldn't run that on the street for fear of hitting something with it and ripping something up.

I've seen people with cold air intakes go through some water and kill an engine. Some people just don't think.

Besides the aforementioned water scoop, you also need to remember that pvc fittings probably have a life expectancy of about two minutes when they're that close to engine heat.

Well, they survived a few trips down the quarter mile. But like I said, it was just a one time deal to see 1. If I could do it and 2. See if it would work.

I believe it dropped a tenth off if my memory serves me. But it could have been the driver.

might want to work on those welds.
racer, machine work AAA+. Welding....well it didn't fall apart so D. Need more training.

Aside from the welding the only thing I have to question is why you would want to do anything to a Neon other than set it on fire?:lol_hitti

Seriously though, the machining looks great, If I had the machining equipment and skills that you posess, I would be making everything I could think of!

You obviously have an interest in, and enthusiasm for, all things automotive/mechanical which is a great start. With your machining talents and a little work on your mechanical/welding skills, you'll be a fabrication machine!

Kind of fell off the map for a little while. But now that I've all but given up on having a prebuilt shed and am wanting build my own.

My welding is much better on normal stuff, and when I use a decent welder. I was just throwing it together, I don't even know if I had the right wire in it. But it didn't matter.
