I have built a small pole shed (12x16). My questions are about framing for garage doors and walk door. I plan on using 4x6 for the corner and wall poles. Will 4x4's be enough for 9x9 or 10x10 garage doors? If any of you have any pictures of how your garage doors and walk door are framed, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, 4x4 should be ok.

What I did was set the post 3" wider and 1 1/2" taller than the door. I then cut 2x6s to fit tight between the posts. One each flush to the outside of the posts. The door bolts to the 4x4 anyways. I then used by 2x8s in my situation, yours would be 2x6s and lined the opening allowing the 2x6s to stick 1/2" further outside the siding.

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR POSTS are rated for direct ground contact!!
Most "PT" lumber of those smaller dimensions are not "ground contact" rated anymore.

man/service/entry doors are ok with 4x4 . I would use the same post for a large opening such as a garage door as you wall posts.
