Cove base nightmare, need input

So I finally got around to installing my vinyl covebase to finish up my garage vct flooring job. This is not going well. I used Roppe 6" vinyl coil so I could go without joints. My trouble is I can't get the top to seal. The pics don't show it very well, but the top edge wants to keep releasing from the block. Any tips? Can I use superglue or some type of epoxy to get this pressed against the wall and sealed ?

If I had known it would be this tough I woul have looked at other options.:shocking:

I hate that stuff even on drywall. I usually use enough glue so that some oozes out the top when you press it down. That wont be easy to clean off that block though. More glue is really all you can do.

Yes, superglue can be used in the tricky spots, helps a lot with getting good grab on outside corners also.

Some of our Installers we recall saying there was special adhesive just designed for cove base and to not us standard adhesive.

We will see if we can track them down and find out more, but call a local flooring supply company, they may be able to assist.

There is a cove base adhesive I remember selling with Johnsonite cove base in the past... Sherwin Williams stocks it ... I think Lowes does as well... It makes a difference if it's Rubber for sure but not sure if it really does with Vinyl...The amount is a balance between the oozing effect and not.

We use the gunnable cove base adhesive in the big tubes available at most home centers and hardware stores. It can be tough to fix a small edge issue and that is where we used some hot glue

Painters tape flush with the top edge. Glue it all good and press it to hold it there, let it ooze. wipe off the cove base then pull off the tape.

After adding the cove base adhesive try using a hand held roller to really press it into the wall.
