Found this Cox & Tingley bicycle wrench in amazingly good condition for its age. It is 6 inches long, 0.113" thick, and plated. Marked COX & TINGLEY and PAT. APL’D FOR. Hex openings are 7/16”, 1/2", 9/16”, and an oversized 5/8". I also see a notch that I assume is a spoke wrench, and a flathead screwdriver. There are two holes in the middle that have diameters of 0.193" and 0.263". There are no markings on the back.
The company was named after David H. Cox Jr. and Charles Otis Tingley.
The Cox & Tingley company dissolved in late 1902 or early 1903.
In the 1905 NJ census, both were listed as being in the Bicycle Supplies occupation.
After the company dissolution, David would form the Cox & Spencer Co. (with Robert H. Spencer) and Charles would form Chas. O. Tingley & Co.
I can only find three patents by David Cox and two patents by Charles Tingley and none of those are for a wrench. If there is a patent for this wrench, my limited patent searching skills are unable to find it.

- I found an 1897 tire repair kit advertisement for the company. Address was in Elizabeth, NJ.
- An 1899 directory says the company made rubber cement, tire repair plugs, bike chain lube, and bicycle wrenches out of Elizabeth NJ.
- A 1900 advertisement lists them making bicycle tire repair items and chain lube in Rahway, NJ.
- Found several 1903 articles about their dissolution.
